I get what she is saying, but I actually LIKE the sandwich, at times, esp. with cuffed BF jeans and booties. For me, as a fair skinned, light haired person -- it works really well to break up a lot of dark on the bottom and lighten up my overall cool weather look. Light toned boots could also do that, but until recently, those were super hard to find, and I still don't own a pair (apart from silver ones that are too dressy for some situations.) So there, Amy!
I do see how the sliver of skin can be a sharp horizontal line that just breaks up an outfit in a weird way. It's all in the details. A matter of proportion. I'm not so sure I buy her "pumps and socks" idea, though. Not for me, at least...
I didn't mind her tone at all -- it was largely explanatory, I thought, and funny, and personal. Opinionated, yeah, but that's totally fine!
Still, A bit of me thinks -- the sandwich was "it" four years ago. Having one was the thing! Now, Amy says it's not the thing. Because we are onto something new. Next year, the "sock with pump" will be so passé. But I guess that's fashion -- we all seek novelty and fun twists on whatever came before, and nothing wrong with that.
