Single strand pearls

So I've only got single strand pearls ... You've-turned-18-single-strand pearls from my mum and dad. And in classic fashion, they each got me something totally different. Mum a strand of black pearls; dad white. (One year I asked for Ghost chairs... mum got me a clear one and dad a smokey grey one... You'd think two people in the same house could coordinate! Argh!)

Not being young now, having a style that tends to overwhelm them, and their not matching... Any thoughts on how to wear them?

Well, you can wear them with collared shirts (jk)
I would suggest wearing them with a sweater or plain top. Or even with a simple dress that only needs a classic accent! Hope that helps!

Could you connect them together, making a longer necklace that is half black and half white? Put which ever clasp is prettier in front.

It would look like this 9 year old karate black belt, featured on CBS News last night.

I didn't understand. You have one single necklace? Or you have two necklaces, one white and one black? What is their length?

Layer them with your other necklaces, or pin a few brooches on the pearl necklaces.

Oh, so creative! Wear something simple to show them off (but still edgy maybe at the hem)! Mix them with other necklaces! Hook them together! I'm already thinking about my brooches, Angie

Sterling - they're two iffy length necklaces. One white pearl one, one black pearl one. Not chokers, not long. They hang to just about the collar bone.

~18" That seems to be a perfect length to me.

I wear my 18" necklaces with button-down blouses (inside the collar); crew-neck sweaters; and v-neck sweaters. This may seem a bit conservative or conventional for you, but I know you will add your own twist to it to make it unique.

Not a jewellery wearer so I haven't a clue, but can you twist them around each other and/or around a neckscarf? Can you tie them in a knot (can you tie them in a bow) in the front and then do up the clasps behind your neck?

i wear my 18 which are white mikimoto along with a strand of fake grayish black pearls with a black shirt....nice layered look. and it totally OK to mix real with fake....

I second the twisted strand idea. The easiest way to do it, for me, is to put one necklace (the shorter one if they're different lengths) around your neck, then wrap the second necklace around the first one and eventually clasp it in the back.

Twisted is interesting! I don't know if I can do a layered look: I think they're both the same length.

Sterling - Sadly, I look horrible in button downs and v-necks; that's my trouble. Life would be so much easier otherwise, I feel! And my last fine cashmere crew neck - slaughtered by moths

Attach a pendant (could be a broach or even an earring). If you attach the two colors together, a broach or old clip earring at the front joined clasp could cover it, if needed. You could also attach a string of pearls to a string of beads or chunky chain. I have a necklace that is half pearls and half chunks of quartz that always gets raves.

With a polo shirt, buttoned up if you're feeling Wes Anderson.
Unbuttoned with popped collar if you're feeling authentic.

BUT 'Bunny' is a nickname for men. Haha. Preppies are the original gender benders. I want to be Muffet (not on list)...
