My August 'challenge' (it is more like a game to me) was to figure out what to do for my fall/winter capsule for under $1000.
I realized that my existing clothes, although uninspiring shape-wise, are still pretty nice...the fabrics are nice, they're in good condition, and they fit. So I'm working with them this year by adding nice scarves.
I also have a good bag, and new Frye boots. I'll have to repeat a lot, but I think I'm OK with that.
Out with pants...
Well, I don't look good in pants, overall. I'm lucky in that I look slim in skinnies, but my legs are so very short, and pants do nothing to disguise that fact. I realized after buying a shift dress this year, that dresses and tunics are the future for me. But the dress has to hide my hips and fall straight down or be a-line or else it doesn't work as well.
So, for fall, I'd like to add some tidy, clean, dress-based outfits. I've attached a couple of pics (1, 2) as 'finds', below. I really like COS. If you have other recs along the same lines, I would love to hear about them!
I've already purchased the 3, 4, 5, 6. 3 and 4 come out of the $1000 budget so I have $430 to work with...I just don't think I can get all the stuff I'd like for that (I'd like 2 dresses, 3 scarves, 2 tights), so I think I'll stretch my budget a bit.
As others have suggested, I'll continue to wait for more fall wear to come out.
