Silver Coat Jeans?

I' had been having a resurrgence of love for more classic elegance, and had decided to let the coated jeans trend pass me by . . . until I was in H&M today and my magpie eyes spotted some silver coat jeans for all of $7.

I guess my quality-over-quantity mood was out to lunch

So, does my middle-aged self dare wear these? I styled them pretty much the way I'd wear them (for full bum coverage).

What do y'all have to say?

It is not my style but they look great on you. Do you feel comfortable in them? Would you feel comfortable wearing them out?

Thx, deb! I think I would feel comfortable going out for dinner or over to someone's house, etc. Those times when you want to dress up without looking dressed up

I really like them! They are quite subtle and I think quite elegant if paired with a white crisp button down or a white semi tucked flowy blouse:).

Wow, these look great on you! I was hesitant about this trend, but seeing how you've styled these (and how stunning they look on you) I'm starting to like it. And how could you turn down $7 jeans that look this great?

I really think the subdued metallic of the "coated" jeans is a perfect option for those of us in the middle years. It captures the metallic trend in an elegant way. Nice!

What a steal!

I like them -- as others have mentioned, the subtle metallic is so much more wearable than ultra-shiny versions. I say wear and enjoy! I think it's great to add something trendier and riskier to your quality-over-quantity wardrobe when it's this much of a bargain.

Thank you so much for your input! I'm surprised (and happy) for all the acceptance Yes, the distressed metallic probably doesn't qualify for the Sci-Fi trend, but it's also probably easier to wear around these parts.

I think it will take the right situation to try them out (occasion and weather!) and see how I feel while wearing.

Deborah - I'll have to try the white shirt ideas. I do have a white silk like the navy and red shirts above, so Ill try it with a half tuck

Rute - those flats have been in and out of my donate pile many times this past year. But they're supremely comfortable and quite neutral, so I'm glad they're still here!

Love!! I wish H&M had online shopping since there's not one in my state. I think they look great and would be perfect for casual occasions where you want to look a little more dressed up.

I find the length unflattering and it looks like you can't do anything about it because of the zippers - is that right?

By now, you know me all too well and how I will react to pant lengths. I am very consistent in my opinions! FWIW. Please feel free to keep them if you love them. But DO NOT keep them because you only paid $7 for them. That is the very wrong way to go about building your wardrobe.

It's not the $7 that I'm attracted to, it's the silver!! But I would most definitely talk myself down if they cost anything over two lattes!

I might just keep them for their fascination factor - stumpifying and all. . . but I think I need to toss them around in my mind for a while longer

Hmmm, wonder if I have any heels that could redeem them a little without adding to the dressiness . . . . ?

Tuck them into boots! I actually didn't see stumpification, but my eye is so in love with the metallic I think that's all I can see.
