I live in DC area and summers here are long, hot and humid. Unfortunately, I am only allowed to wear full length pants to work which makes summer dressing a bit of a nuisance. So I am always on the lookout for some loose fitting summer pants that would be more comfortable than jeans and decided to give these Banana Republic pair a try.

I know that many of you here are experts when it comes to slouchy pants, but I am just a novice. While I admire them on others, pleated ones do not work on my body so I am staying away from them. So, do these have potential? I have purposefully sized up for more slouchiness but there seems to be some extra material in the thigh area that creates unflattering ice cream cone effect. #1 is just for giggles, rolled at the horribly unflattering length. #2 is at full lentgh, the way I would wear them, and #3 is pulling the excess material back, an alteration I would be willing to do if needed.

If they are keepers (with or without alteration), how would you style them? I have a feeling that they need heels and something structured on the top, like a blazer. I am wearing them here with my "covered" heeled Aerosoles sandals, but for work I can only do closed toed shoes. And please excuse the wrinkles on the pants, they need some steaming!
