Silk blouse from days of old...keep?

It's playing in my closet day! Up for consideration is a silk blouse bought in the late 90's from Banana Republic in midtown Manhattan. It was a complete impulse purchase and love at first sight. I haven't worn it in many years, but it keeps surviving closet purges out of sentimental attachment and love for the colors. It is very sheer so I'm wearing it with a dark cami. I wore this blouse to death back in the day, and I'm wondering if I can still make it work.

My main concern is the cut. It has a slight high-low look to it, but is it too short and boxy to work in 2013?

I love the color too. My first impression is that it seems a wee bit short (cuts have definitely changed since then, haven't they?). What keeps you from wearing it?

I love it, actually. I agree cuts have changed but this doesn't look so dated to me, it almost works like a tucked shirt would at this length.

Semi tuck it in front for a more exaggerated hi-low look and I think you're go to go for 2013.

Thanks everyone. Weirdly, it still seems ok to my eye, too...although definitely shorter than the current norm.

Janet, I think the main reason I don't wear it is because I know how old it is, so I think it 'must' be out of style...even if it looks good. You know what I mean?

I like it alot better with the jeans than I do with the skirt. I'd try semi tucking it in the front (with the jeans) and see how it looks then. Its a beautfiul blouse!

Nancy, I completely understand about not wearing it because it's "old." Some items just don't feel fab to me once they "feel old" even if they seem to look fine to others. Usually those things end up orphans and finally get donated -- at least in my closet. It is very rare that I resurrect an item from this category in my wardrobe, but I admittedly have a pretty big wardrobe, so lots of more current favorites to choose from.

Janet, I'm the same way. I've rotated this blouse in and out of my closet several times over the past few years....and I've yet to wear it out of the house.

I think I'll give it one more try in my closet, and if I haven't worn it by the end of the summer I'll just fold it up and save it for sentimental reasons.

Try a semi tuck but you may get side bunching depending on material weight or weave.

If it doesn't work, you'll always have the memories.

To my eye, it works with a skirt, but not with jeans. Too short.

Semi-tucking might allow this to work with jeans....

I like this a lot with a skirt. Skirts take a shorter top, and that makes it totally up to date. Other than that, it looks fab on you and I see nothing dated about it.
