Lyn, I no longer buy Aldo shoes because I had two pairs of boots fall apart on me in a spectacularly ridiculous fashion. On one, almost the ENTIRE SOLE detached from the rest of the boot while I was wearing it - it had a big chunky heel too so I had to limp home with this big huge flappy sole+heel flopping about only attached at the toe. The other pair had a side seam that burst open (like for several inches) also while I was wearing it so everyone got a good look at my brightly colored socks.
That aside, I've never found it economical to have boots (or any shoes really) resoled... although replacing heel caps is occasionally a good idea. I often wear through the ball of my shoes from the inside out (like through the padding), which is not fixable in any case.
