I have been not very active on YLF lately but I guess it is like home - the place to come for support and understanding when life is unfair.
My kitty boy got sick 2 weeks ago - hiding, not eating. I took him to the vet. he was running a fever. She thought it is a virus,gave him medications and fluids, he began to eat the next day and things felt on the mend for a week...until this Monday.
He began to eat very little again and then stopped altogether. We took him to the vet yesterday. No fever but she found his heartbeat irregular and slow so we did full blood work. Everything came negative except the heart test. She called today to say that he has high-ish BNP count which may indicate a heart disease.
I am so scared! He is eating now but not very much - better that 2 days ago but not normal still. He is only 4 years old so not that old yet. He is the biggest sweetie and I love him so much! I don't know what to do now!
Please send my Winnie some healing vibes if you can so he can recover!

Sending Winnie infinite healing vibes. It's AWFUL when our pets are sick. (One of the worst feelings in the world). I know what it means to have sick pets with heart disease - Jasmine and Rosie both had heart disease. It CAN be managed, although they do lose weight. I'm sure you're being the best Kitty Mama to Winnie, Svetlana - which gives her great comfort. Much love to you and Winnie. xo

Sending love from a cat lady. The 3 cats who run our house are the first 3 pets I've ever had in my life. 2 of them are really slowing down, and the younger one is like a puppy. I will be heartbroken when the first one has a serious illness or leaves us. I never expected to love animals so much - I lived 40 years without them, after all! The day we got the 13 year olds as tiny kittens I remember thinking, "we'll still have these cats when our boys (who were then 4 and 7) have left". And, this June, we will have cats but no boys left in our house...

He's young, I really really really hope this is something that will mend. Your love is his best medicine.

There are presently 4 cats in our household, and I can't imagine what it's like to deal with a kitten with a heart condition. I really hope and pray there will be a way to restore or at least vastly improve his health.

I am happy to report that my little boy is completely well again!
It was a bacterial infection after all and antibiotics did the trick. His heart was normal on the last visit to the vet so we hope it was a false alarm.
I am sure your good wishes and vibes made all the difference. Thank you!!!
