Hi ladies,
I have hovered in the background here for years and I can't begin to thank Angie and the members of YLF for all the help they have unknowingly given me. I recently resolved to become more active in the forum and I will as soon as I find a way to get a photo of myself that does not require balancing on the edge of my tub!
However, right now I could use a little support. First a little background information. In July my DS adopted an adorable little black cat. DS is away at college and has had a rough time over the years since he was diagnosis with ADHD during his sophomore year. He has finally made it to his last year of school and will receive his degree next August. It was recommended to him that he adopt a cat for companionship and stress relief. Nyx came into his life and it was love at first sight for both of them.
Nyx started to run a fever last week, lost his appetite and became lethargic. The vet put him on antibiotics. Yesterday he was admitted with enlarged lymph nodes, enlarged kidneys and fluid on his lungs. He is being tested for FIP and lymphoma. In the meantime he is on an IV and is being given lasix to reduce the fluid buildup along with antibiotics. The vet hopes it is just a nasty bacterial infection but it doesn't look good.
I feel horrible for my son and for his poor kitty. Nyx is only 15 months old. I never realized how easy it was to get attached to a little creature in such a short time.
Thanks for listening (reading)
Mary
