Mochi

We are also going on a last-minute trip at the end of September. Anyone have any recommendations? It's a huge island and we have 10-14 days so will try and pick one or two places as a base, with some day trips. Thanks and I'm curious to see what you come up with!

Lucky you and a great time of year to go. Check out the Ortigia area of Syracusa. Beautiful square, interesting sites and some great food (which I believe is almost inevitable on Sicily). Easy drive to some interesting medieval towns. Small area, so a night or two would be enough if you are pressed for time.

Driving in Sicily is often slowed down by hills, narrow roads and hairpin turns. You have to take extra time into account.

Wanted to see the incredible mosaics here (http://www.italia.it/en/travel.....-romana.ht0, but never got that far.

If you have particular interests, I'd try to reply, but only saw a few places over 7 days. I'd love to go back. Super fun and relaxing destination.

I Love Sicily ! We've been there several times.

We've had super holidays in Taormina, where we stayed in castle del mola.

We also had a lovely holiday in cefalu, which is medieval and on the coast.

Etna is definitely worth a visit.

My fav TV character is also from Sicily, inspectors montoblano, in Italian, english sub-titles.

Mary, I heard somewhere that you were going! I am not sure of our dates now. We may have had to move the trip up a week or so to leaving 10/1 (and that may also shift--should make our decision very soon, though). I'd love to hear about where you're planning on going--the island is huge. xoxoxo

Agrigento's Temples Valley is definitely worth a visit. It's a Valley where you can still see Greek Temples, still standing! Such a magical place, especially at night...
Some places that were reccommended to me were Noto and San Vito lo Capo, both for the beaches and the towns.
I am a little bit jealous...
