Show/Tell me your favorite shorts/clams for summer

Here it is halfway through August and I'm just realizing that I have a shorts deficit. I've been teaching in the summers for the past four years, so my focus for summer clothing has been more work focused. I have only two pair of (Jag Jeans) Bermuda shorts for casual wear, and I'm realizing that I could really use some more. I'd also like to give clams (clamdiggers) a try.

Do you have a favorite pair or brand of shorts or clams that you could recommend, YLFers? (I'm most comfortable in Bermuda shorts these days, FYI) I realize it's the end of the summer, so I might be out of luck finding sizes and colors, but at least I can get some shopping advice.

i like the basic chino shorts from jcrew, and what i like most, the choices of in- seam. (depending on how tall you are and how long you want your shorts they have a 7 or 9 inch in seam).

Ooh! Do you have an older pair of jeans you don't love so much anymore? You could simply try Angie's trick here. No spending necessary!!

I have been wearing the same Always Skinny cutoff shorts for 3 years now (Bermuda length, pic 1.) I have two pairs that I rotate.

I also got a pair of Vanns (if you can believe it) last year that I like a lot. (pic 2) And I have a pair of white Mexx shorts that work pretty well. (Pic 3)

Oh...and I wear the VC skirts for work at home casual, too. Not for gardening, obviously. But for pretty well everything else. Just throw a tee or a simple shirt on over top and you are good to go.

Yeah I took some boot cuts that weren't PPL but fit great in the waist/hip and turned them into something like Angie's. They have been my favourite shorts this year. I suggest leaving them longish then you can experiment with different rolls and lengths till you hit your sweet spot.

I got some fabulous Kut from the Kloth bermuda shorts earlier this summer in a dark wash. My one complaint is that they do stretch out while wearing, so I can only wear them once before washing. (I usually like to get 2-3 wearings out of denim.)

Then last weekend, I picked up a pair of "ex-boyfriend" bermudas at Macy's. They're Style & Co. Curvy Fit. Faded and a bit slouchy. Very nice fit. And they were 50% off. (One advantage to living in a hot climate is picking up summer clothes on clearance when we've still got some more summery weather ahead to wear them.)
I got the Kut shorts from Nordstrom Rack. I don't know if they still have that style, but they always have a selection of that brand in stock.

I had never worn a long short/clam style until this year and it all happened on the spur of the moment one hot sunny Sunday when I decided to chop off a pair of jeans and roll then a couple of times to mid knee length. http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....day-casual I've since worn them styled in a couple of different ways. Suz, Jules, and Diane, I wish I had a pair of jeans I could part with. I've been such a diligent closet purger over the past couple of years that any unworn denim is long gone!

kkards and Wendi, I'm ordering some JCrew shirts for my son to take back to college so I might just order a couple pair of bermudas for me. They still have navy, khaki and white in my size.

Wendi and Adelfa, thanks for the suggestions. I do love my Kut boyfriend jeans, so I'm sure the shorts would be good, too.

Note: at the beginning of the summer season, these come in a lot more colours - my favourite being the iron grey colour - not shown in above link, likely due to being 'end of season' now. These usually come in at least six different colours (even some stripes), and are very flattering and comfortable. One of my summertime faves.

I wish I could help but all of my long shorts are thrifted. If I needed any, I would have definitely considered Angie's Club Monaco shorts VC mentioned above.
