Showing Your Team Spirit

"Blue Fridays" are BIG here in Seattle, and everywhere I go I see employees donning tees and jerseys. Grocery stores, banks, health clinics, even Nordstrom employees get in on it. It's really quite awesome.

How do you dress to support your team? Do you style spirit wear at work, or just for game day?

I'm a huge Sounders fan, and I think rave green is a criminally ugly color. That being said, over the years, it's begun to grow on me in context. I have a Sounders hoodie and the requisite scarf for game days (I usually only get to see them when they're in Denver), but mostly I show my spirit with a sticker on my car.

Well as you saw I like to elevate my team spirit looks. I recently paired a black Steelers shirt with polka dot skirt and sandals with yellow purse. I even have a scarf to add to any regular outfit. I think it's fun to do the unexpected for team spirit. Even just wearing the colors with no team gear is fun. I hope you play and find something you like. I have my creative juices flowing. Who knows what I will do next. All I know is when I wear mine out I inspire other women and they are grateful. Makes me feel more inspired.

I really dislike team tees and don't own any. Why can't they come up with any interesting and good designs? I'm more likely to wear team colors but not using team merchandise. The wife of the man who once owned the KCRoyals team wore a beautiful royal blue suit and blue heels to games .

Ok. A wee bit jealous here. You have a team with a great color scheme. Living in Atlanta, it would be fine if I liked the Falcons...red, black, silver. But, I'm a Redskins fan. Burgundy and yellow/gold. Ick. Worse still...my husband is a Browns fan...orange and brown. Double ick.

We live in a town with a college that I didn't attend. In fact, they played my school a couple weeks ago and beat them. Anyway, I don't have any local college logowear.

I do have a SF Giants cap and tee, a cap and sweatshirt for our local Triple A baseball team, a sweatshirt from my DS's high school, and a Texas A&M tee that was a gift from my SIL, but nothing from my own alma mater. I wear the A&M tee more than my DH wears his. I just wear it randomly, though, not necessarily on game day. I got the high school sweatshirt when my DS was in band and we helped with marching band instruments, uniforms, etc. So glad he graduated!

I'm with Joy. I dislike most team jerseys and feel most women of a certain age look really sloppy in them and overwear them. I mean, in church, really?? I live in a sports-crazed area

I don't mind the woman's cut t-shirts because they are neater.

I have two sons who play college sports and even have a tough time wearing their school gear to sporting events, unless the item is really low-key. And it must must go with my shoes and bag

I hear you Aquamarine ! My son swims in college and it's red the same as his HS colors. I am SICK of red unflattering T shirts. When we go to the 3 day conference meets I feel as though I have been hit by the ugly stick for 3 days !

LOL Gail. I actually like the colors of my sons' teams, but I remember during the recruitment process hoping one of them would not go to a certain school because I hated the school colors.

First world problems for sure!

I'm always most impressed with spirit looks when there is NO licensed gear included, but an unmistakable nod to the team colors -- showing a healthy dose of creativity!

YES. Fridays in Seattle is all about the Seahawks. My built-in apple green specs support them by default.

I don't look great in orange, but I will wear Orioles colors when I'm going to a game. In fact, I will admit that one day when we decided to go to a game spur of the moment, and we were already out and not going home first, I had to go to the Team Store to buy a jersey. I was wearing navy and white that day and absolutely could not risk being taken for a Yankees fan!

Most of the orange in my wardrobe is Orioles themed, so otherwise, you just really won't see me wearing orange much, unless it's in a print with other colors that are more flattering on me.

I'm not as big of a football fan, but I'll wear Ravens purple on game day to represent. I have a Ravens jersey but only wear it to go to a game or to a viewing party.

Well I live in SEC country where college football is huge! People in my office frequently wear logo items on Fridays. Fortunately our university's color is a deep red/burgundy so I'm good with that. I have one tunic top with the team logo and it's a nice weight and style to wear with leggings. And I have an infinity scarf in a light weight that works with tees.

I will wear one of those this evening if we meet up with friends at a local pub to watch the game.

I'm with Carter. I'd like to show support for my team(s), but I look hideous in their colors. If I was going to a game I guess I'd wear it anyway, but it's a real struggle for me.

(I got dressed today and after we'd left the house I realized what I was wearing could be interpreted as the opposing team's colors! Gasp! Horror!)

I have a ton of blue and orange in my wardrobe, so even if work does not allow actual jerseys when the game is on Monday or Thursday I can easily dress to support the Broncos.
I have a "girl fit" Broncos tee shirt that I wear on Sunday game days.

My DH & I both work for a college we didn't attend and that is a big rival of the college we did attend. On top of that, I look terrible in the team colors. No team spirit from us, though my DH does wear the colors from time to time. Our 3 DDs attend this college, so we're a divided family, lol.

I'm pretty fortunate that my school's colors are maroon and white - good colors for me, and happily in style this fall! That said, actual maroon is tricky to find; burgundy is a lot more common. I don't like jerseys too much, but women's tees tend to be nice. I'm in a large metro area in the South, so sports merchandise is common at all times. Particularly football at all levels, but also other sports. My workplace even promotes sports day on all 9/80 working Fridays.

I am a die-hard STL Cardinal fan!! At the moment, I am carrying around my old, dirty Cardinal purse with me. It only gets washed at the end of each season, but it goes through the entire season without a deep cleaning. Bad luck to wash it mid-season.
