ETA: have bought some red sandals on holiday in Australia today. Photos at the end.
Hi all, after about a year of looking , including on-line at DSW and Zappos, have I found a replacement?  https://www.shop.mikkoshoes.nz.....aspx?c=155
The 2009 sandals:at the time I wasn't looking for such a thing, was in a store, there they were in my size and a good sale, can't remember but maybe $ 60-70, a good brand. You know sometimes it's just so easy? Wasn't tracking back then but should be over 30 times with having worn for now about 8 summers? And several glueings by talented practical husband. Great things about them:
1. Dainty, I like T-straps.
2. Bit of bling. I like the gold, I can wear both gold or red toenail polish. Our summer is around party season/Christmas/ New Year. Really comfy to dance in. Pic 3 shows them borrowed by DD 1 for a Spanish party. I offered her 3 pair red shoes I think, she said these were easily the most comfy.
3. I like that the part where my toes sit, and also which shows at the front, is red, many shoes are beige there and I don't like that look.
4. Dressy
5. I like the heel shape, sort of a wedge but not, don't like wedges on me. Will have to go onto my phone to add pics of the heel side-on and also my other fave shoes with similar heel, some teal ones.
The new option, likes and dislikes
1. Like that the same colour. They are in our local store in my size, they fit and are comfy.
2. They have the same height( low) heel.
What I'm not sure of:
1. They have some pattern on and the current ones have no pattern.
2. Price! 3-4 times as much, they are Spanish made and the current ones are Chinese made, but still... ( we pay heaps for imported from Europe shoes here).
3. Husband doesn't like them as much, he says the straight across bit at the back of the heel is not as dainty as the more rounded heel on the current ones.
4.Husband balks at the price. This is unusual for him- he often encourages my shoe spending, he says it gives me so much pleasure and it is such a small proportion really of the money I earn that I shouldn't worry about it. He may not know how good a sale shopper I usually am and my clothes shopping comes out of a separate account... but he did see the price on these and frowned and said that looks like a lot of money for such a tiny bit of shoe.
BUT, if I wait for a sale until later in the season, they may well get sold in my size. Still available now and I tried them on over a week ago. But our new spring has turned horribly wintry again so no-one is wearing sandals yet, still boots. We have had wind and thunderstorms. Mine is the smallest size, euro size 36, they may have a few throughout the company but maybe not that many since imported.
I do not LOVE them but I like them a lot. The risk is though that I will still prefer the old ones and still nurse them along . And not wear the new ones enough. If that will happen, I should wait. But if I let them go, will  there be anything better since my requirements are so stringent? I have checked every NZ shoe website and my fave Aussie one Styletread. Nothing else is remotely similar. All much more "clumpy" or not as dainty or not the right shade of red. This colour is perfect with the red singlet top ( pic 1, Christmas 2013 at our house) and the dress ( pic 2, Christmas 2016 also at our house- we host every 3 years). Will I still be searching in another year, or will daintier shoes come back in?
Pics 4/5, current ones including heel, pic 6 similar style heel on much-loved teal winter shoes.
