I have to go to work absurdly early tomorrow, so I am going to post this and run.
I have been doing my best to build my Fall and Winter wardrobe along the lines provided by The Vivienne Files. At first, I thought I'd do the "Start from Scratch" series--but that got to be too confusing and overwhelming. So, then I thought I'd do it by the 4x4 method. (Much easier to manage.) Her idea is that you put together four pieces (tops and bottoms) in 2 different neutrals. I chose black and grey when navy didn't look like it was going to appear in the stores. (It seems I was a bit premature. I could likely purchase a navy top and pants, now.)
OK: so my black neutrals are not a problem. For some reason, I don't mind being a column of black. (Maybe I have Deborah to thank for that!)
But the grey! Here I am wearing three of them together (something the Vivienne Files approach encourages) and I despair.
I realised just recently that I really love the white I have had in my summer wardrobe. I purchased a lovely bright wine red top--and tried it with my black knit pants. Fine. But then, a few days ago, I broke it out and wore it with my white pants. What a difference! That's what caused my epiphany. How do I act on it?
I don't know how I'll feel about wearing it in Winter--nor am I exactly sure how to go about finding decent "winter white" items. (I certainly haven't seen any in the stores, yet.) I am betwixt and between, as they say. With that flowy grey sleeveless cardy, by the way, I also tried on a white T-shirt and a light grey pair of NYDJ ankle pants. What a totally different feel from the outfit below.
What on Earth should I do?
Keep the same approach and spice up this (grey) outfit somehow?
Chuck it out (return it if I can, tags are still on) and start over? Keep some (like the pants) change out the cardigan to something more exciting (if I can)?
Go to bed and look at it all with fresh eyes again in the morning?
Thanks for indulging me yet again.
