Should I say goodbye to the Lucky Penny sparkle boots?

I got ghese boots about ?3 years ago now and really have only worn them a few times.
When j got them I knew they were quite a new thing did me but I was excited to try something like this.

They fit well and are comfortable and I thought I would wear them at least casually with jeans. They were my " party boots" for casual outings.
But for the most part, I think I am finding I amnot a big metallic person for footwear and purses. Though I like shoes with part metallic areas.
I'm not sure that's all. It might be there is something about the style- too Western?
I am finding it hard to decide to let them go because I thought they would be " me" and somehow they are not.

Those boots don't look that shiny, more pewter or tarnished than polished silver. To me that makes them more casual, but if they are just not "you", it's time to let them go.

I have to agree that regardless of what anyone else thinks of the boots, if you are not feeling them, then it is time to let them go. Even if other people loved them a lot, that likely would not change how you feel about them or how they do or do not go with what you wear. For me, personally, they are a bit too western.

I have the same boots! I haven't worn them this winter, but mainly because it's been so wet. It they don't feel right, then let them go.

Unfrumped, this happens to me too. I buy things thinking that they will be workhorses and then hardly wear them because for some reason they don't feel like "me" when I wear them. I think it is time to let them go and move onto your next style journey. I have had to be more forgiving of myself, when these things happen.

If you're not feeling great in them, then I would pass them on. I'm sure we've all had this happen; I know I have. We buy something that we think is right, but it turns out to be just a little "off." I just chalk it up to learning more about myself.

Time to say goodbye. Move on to something else. You can find something you will enjoy and wear more frequently. I often am surprised by my winter shoe/boots choices. I can never predict which are going to be worn the most. It seems very weather and event dependent. For example, this winter, so far I haven't pulled out any of my snow boots. There has been plenty of snow, just not on days when I needed to walk through it to get anywhere!

I find this sort of thing difficult. What I think I do myself, especially lately with nothing new for 3 months, is try to make myself wear the item several times. This has worked with some pale green-grey summer trousers that are almost 5 years old, I've now worn 9 times mostly this summer. I had maybe worn twice before as had others I liked better, but those had died. They do look quite nice I think and I had a compliment about the colour one day. I think I wish I could do what the others above suggest, perhaps a bit full of guilt to do that if the item fits well and is comfy. If you are able to let go, you may feel better, and chalk it up to experience? I need to be able to take my own advice maybe...

I was going to say much what Jenni did. I would try to wear them casually--maybe not save them for special occasions. To me they look casual enough for everyday wear. You could just put them on and wear them out to do errands, or whatever. Then, if that doesn't work, let them go.

I absolutely love the metallics, but I too found that I don't wear them in real life. I bought these with love in my eye. I have only worn them 5 times since purchase. I am keeping mine because summer is coming and I am hoping they are a summer shoe for me.

The reason I am keeping mine is I feel they are me but I have not yet struck on the right formula for wearing them. Do you think that is your problem?

unfrumped, I feel your frustration (been there...) If you are feeling that they are not you then you've learned from them and can let them go. I like jill58's comment about trying them for errands and such instead of an "occasion" first and Sterling's mention of needing to find the right formula. If I was struggling with them I'd try them with a long flare/bootcut white jean.

I think I keep thinking, but I have these metallic this boots so if I find them away I might just buy the same thing one day. But I can tell " I would not buy these again. " Also I was sure( once) that this sort of burnished suede would be more me than something else. But it is maybe too sparkly it it's the shape- which also surprises me since when worn with boot cuts, all you see is some almond toe.

Sterling, I have flats almost like those but in another brand, that is part suede and part barely metallic and they are a great neutral for me. So that informs my thinking of the type of thing that suits me better.

Dinna, that's a great idea. I've been shopping my closet and making myself wear some things- once, anyway- that I'm on the fence about, to get that aha moment of keep or toss.

I really like them and I think western booties are supposed to be on-trend next fall, so I vote keep until next season. Maybe they won't be the workhorses you hoped for, but they could be just trendy enough to wear a few times. But if you don't wear them next fall, donate.

let them go.....in my experience, if you are feeling them after 3 years....you are never going to....(lesson learned the hard way)....anyway, there is someone out there who rock these booties....let them find someone who will love them... and i've found letting them go, lets me move on and not dwell on my mistake....

It may turn out that they have taught me lessons and I can " thank them" a la Marie Kondo.

Yes, as Angie said and as JAileen demonstrated, these boots would be fine under bootcuts and might allow you to get used to them. They would add some subtle shimmer without too much more than you're used to. Then, if they really don't feel right, you could pass them on. Are they comfortable?

Since they seem to have been popular here, maybe it would be easier to let them go if you offered them on Style Exchange here and could see them go to someone who would enjoy them and style them brilliantly?

Good thought for ways to help let go, Ryce, but I likely won't participate in SE.

Instead I'm feeling more that I still need INTERESTING footwear, but my style is more with rich colors or details or that o 2- tone options. I also like patent leathers , though they have vmbrcone harder for fussy feet due to less give. Suede is my friend in that regard.

Your boots have given you an insight into what is you, i.e. suede and rich colours rather than sparkle and shine. Also, maybe you'd do better with a distressed metallic finish or a more muted colour such as pewter, which would be a little more subtle.

For me, and this could just be me, the effect of the brownish suede and metallic is tending distressed and RATE. Even 'post apocalyptic' or Mad Max - somebody fancy once had shiny metallic boots but they are now worn out and will be worn to shreds because there isn't much else around. I don't see that as being a big part of your style typically?
I like them - just trying to articulate my take!

Toe shape is EVERYTHING! I think you have identified the issue: when worn with bootcuts, the obvious combination for them, you don't like what you see peeping through... (could it be that they spring up in a cowboy's style? Could it be that you like to see a pointy toe under a bootcut, only in a shiny material as opposed to light-absorbing suede?) so yes, they have taught you something: toe-box shape can make or break a whole look, and it is a more important element of your style than you thought. Thanks for sharing, it is eye-opening to others, too.

Summer- Jules- krishnidoux- each of you are on target in a way.
They are too shiny/ too much contrast. I like the distressed aspect but not with sparkles! The pointy part is interesting. I think i don't actually like pointy + bootcut ON ME. even though that is a classic combo! Or maybe need another type of pointy, but as a duemrection, it's not good for my feet. I have some Frye oxford- booties that are pointy and I'm not sure I still like them, with boot-cuts, but they are actually comfortable and so I may wait until I have a replacement in sight. .

I have to repeat. Shoes/booties are the hardest thing to buy. It is only after having worn them for a while with my wardrobe that I know if they will work or not. You have no idea how many shoes I have bought only to discover that they fit or the style is not quite what I anticipated. If you learn from these shoes, good for you. You might be ahead of the game.

Oh, too bad that they didn't work out for you. Maybe I could borrow them? Just kidding! I have to attend an awards gala in April that has a Denim and Diamonds theme that they would be perfect for. I can't quite figure out what to wear to this event. Blingy jeans and cowboy boots are the obvious answer but I don't own those items and don't want to buy them for one event.

Unfrumped; I think some of us have the magpie gene and others don't. Those booties definitely do NOT make me think of you: They are not sufficiently refined, are too RATE, and too cowboy. I can't imagine you ever falling in love with them unless comfort is the primary consideration.
