Should I replace my jeggings?

Angie has culled hers - I am trying to decide whether to replace mine

I have 2 pairs. I bought them 3 or 4 years ago. One is a bit tight and the other has been such a wardrobe workhorse it is nearly worn out. I live in them in winter. As comfy as tracky pants for around the house as a SAHM and can be quickly transformed with a coat and boots for school pick up.

But are they on the way out, fashionably speaking?

Although I am no longer strictly following 12 in 12 (though I haven't gone over it either) I am trying to buy more ethically which means I would be paying a lot more than the $20-$30 a pair I paid last time. Naturally I am weighing up each purchase carefully.

i still love mine but i sized up in the last pair i bought in feb. trying not to buy more.

I never did skinnies. Straight legs are my skinnies. Still, I think there is at least a while yet that skinnies will "in". Yes, the slouchy looks more fashion forward, but that's just it, it is forward. I think it will be a while before it becomes more mainstream, but then in y part of the world, fashion moves a lot more slowly!

That's a tough one Anne. Can you wait until you get into winter to see if you still love them or are you afraid they'll be sold out in your size?

Thistle, my part of the world isn't particularly fashion forward either! And very few of my friends my age even started wearing jeggings or skinnies (Leggings are most popular though)

Claire, I am not in any real hurry to buy. It is more that I am thinking about their place in my overall clothing plan for the year. As it happen though, I hadn't actually seen them around in the shops for a few years and I am not even sure if I have seen them online at any of the shops I am wanting to patronise.

Anne, I would be inclined to keep and wear this winter. I am biased because I like leggings and skinny jeans BUT it sounds like they suit your lifestyle. Even if they are just relegated to 'lounge wear' or MOTG duties.

If it's a style that works *for you* and your lifestyle, and they happen to be in good condition, I see no reason for culling. You seem to have found a way to make them work for a variety of situations.
I would certainly not cull them before having a good replacement in my hands and if you really want to, then at least do it one by one, let the least favorite pair go first.

Of course, my views have to be taken with a pinch of salt. I'm still devoted to my skinnies, partly because the right new BFs for me have not found me, and I may find myself in the dated territory in no time, but why fix something that's not broken. That's my story and I'm sticking to it

If you enjoy them, I think they will still be around for quite some time. So you may regret culling them when you go to wear them this Fall.

Ooh thanks everyone. Just to clarify; I am not considering culling the ones I have. The question is whether I should replace the wearing out pair with new ones

I also wear mine all winter , mostly with boots. I would look to see if there are any in the shops in a new colour or style you prefer to the old ones. If not I would leave it and wear out the old ones .

I wear my tailored skinnies and straight legs all the time and tuck those into boots. You are right that I tossed my body con jeggings. Just so over the look of extra tight bottoms for my own style. I vote keep one pair and see how you like them over the Oz Winter.
