Should I just give up on this shirt?

This is a Vince sheath leather tank top I got at the Rack last year. I've only worn it once (see last photo #9). #1-#3 shows the fit, #4-#8 were attempts to style it. Now I'm wondering if it just too harsh and severe. It might be seasonably confused for Seattle. When it's warm enough to wear it on it's on, it might be too warm and look odd. Should I just sell it?

I quite like it with the necklace in 5, and 6 just seems perfect to me. I think I would like 8 better without the dark lipstick-with so much black perhaps you could balance it put with your bright pink lips instead?

This is a tough piece to style I suspect but it looks AMAZING in pic #6. That entire outfit is a 10/10 to my eye. But I have to be honest and say I'm not crazy about it in the other outfits. I'm not sure if only wearing an item one way makes it a keeper in your closet. If you got it last year and have only worn it once, my instinct says "sell it".

I love it in #6. But if its that tough to work with, I wonder how much use you'll get from it. I can see how it would be challenging. By the time I want something sleeveless, I don't think I could tolerate leather!

LOVE outfit #6. But I do think that the seasonal confusion thing might be a dealbreaker. I'm pretty sure that there is no weather condition where sleeveless and leather are appropriate. I think you could probably get a similar look that's more comfortable with a similarly shaped, tight knit top of some sort. I don't love it with most of the lighter colored pants and I do think the all-black outfits are not quite your style any more, so I vote sell.

#6 does look amazing! But I'd sell if you are hesitant about the piece -- also, it's very different from the direction you're going now (which I love).

Can't tell from the pix if you could wear a ss tee underneath? I've got a similar item, with a slightly lower scoop and love to wear it over white, grey or black short sleeve tees with jeans or with longer softer items (pants, skirt) in black.

#6 is the one that really appeals to me too. It just seems to create a nice clean silhouette in that one.

If you are having that much trouble styling it though, you may want to sell and invest the money in something you will wear more.

I love this top. I'd wear it like any black sheath top - underneath everything, or as a vest over a thin black shirt. It's gorgeous.

You've done a great job styling it, but you've already found out how seasonally confused it is. If it had a lower neckline and was loose enough to layer under it, that would help, but as it is, it looks best on it's own, and it's not a summery piece. I'd sell it.

Would you wear it over a button down (crisp or sheer)? Then it would move to the right season and still be a bit edgy.

I really like it with the jeans and the long gold necklace. A very cool look. What about under a blazer or tuxedo jacket as a fall/winter item? Maybe with a pencil skirt and some funky tights?

Or is that just too dull? My taste is nowhere near as avant-garde or daring as yours... le sigh.

over a black pencil skirt or grey jeans. tell yourself it is any old black top! it seems the people that I see ruling this top, don't treat it like a leather top, but like a blouse, ya know, worn with dressier things. And that works. But to be honest, your style is edgier so your other pieces are already rockin so this puts them over the edge. Got any conservative things to try it with?

I voted Nay, which means I am in favour of this beautiful top. It looks so cool on you and the texture is interesting, very sexy, but not "in your face". I also very much like how you have styled it in 4, 5, 6. I think it is interesting enough on its own, and the other clothes shouldn't be competing in edginess, rather underlining the tank's edginess. Do you see what I mean?

I love 4: it's fun, young, athletic, neon, trendy.
I love 5: it's sensual, classy, sophisticated.
I love 6: it's incredibly cool, nonchalant, feminine.

Hmmm...I really love it and think it works well with your style. I would probably think of it as a layering piece. So, layered over short- or long-sleeved printed thin knits, or under a cardigan or jacket.

I really like it, although I think it's a little too tight to wear with skinnies. It looks fab in pic #6. If it were mine, I'd wear it with bare arms and a full (or at least A-line) non-denim skirt, and pop a fitted jean jacket over the top. Or I'd wear it like a waistcoat over a collared shirt (although perhaps not a black one), paired with bootcut jeans. I vote keep.

I'd keep it. It looks especially great in #6. Keep it for fall/winter.
