Should I go for the MUCH cheaper knock-off?

Okay, complete and utter pro-Western snobbery rant here, but I think you should stick with the Isabel Marant shirt. The Zara one gets on my nerves. If they'd have had horseshoes, I would have loved it. But Western details and an English rider? In a red hunt coat even? That's ridiculous. You know you could never wear that home. We don't cotton to that type of mix-uppery in the Palouse.

I guess it depends on whether it's an item you can see yourself wearing when the trend is over or whether it's a more temporary piece for you.
As I have lots of problems with knock-offs take this with a grain of salt................

Reminds me of the Cad Zoots brand I made the BF try on years back in an Ybor City hip thrift store. No advice on which to choose, but for me the details of western vs English don't really matter.

How much do you like the western look? Is this something you will get many seasons of wear out of, or will is it more of a trend for you?

I think the Isabel Markant with the embroidery is lovelier,but you certainly get a similar vibe from the Zara one. If it is the vibe you are after, particularly for a trend versus long term love, I would go for the Zara.

Of the two, I like the original much more.

But I wonder if you can get the look at a much better price getting authentic Western wear? It is pretty traditional styling.

You know, I had thought of mentioning the Zara version on your original thread, but somehow I figured you would know about it already. I do think the IM version is nicer than the Zara one, and Kks' point about the pattern is hilarious. However, I would go with the original version here. The IM one isn't styled differently, just a finer drapier fabric maybe, but for the price difference, it's not worth it, and the original in this case is cooler in my opinion. Nothing like that is available in Europe, and the French and Italians would be fainting on the street over it.

I have to start my declaring I have no love for western style clothing (as in country and western) :). I find it to look a little "costumey". I favour the Zara blouse, but clearly I'm in the minority.

I like the one you have better; I prefer the embroidery to the print. But, you'll have to choose based on choice! I do think this style fits well with your personal style.

I prefer the Zara. The mixture of western and English riding don't bother me, in fact its kind of funny. I like my clothes to make me laugh.

K, I loved your comment. I agree I have major problems with mix of styles in the Zara. My friend in Vegas approved the IM. She's a dressage rider in Amarillo, TX. I think she would disapprove vehemently of the Zara.

I'd get the Zara for myself. That is hilarious, the western details and English rider print. If only I still had my "Little English Rider" doll. My mother bought it for me when I was like 20. We found it at a gritty, urban, ghetto K-Mart. Had to have it for its provenance.
