I like the after!

I plan to run a row of matching stitching a half inch above the cut (to contain the fray through repeated washing) and use a seam ripper/tweezers to pull out the horizontal threads before fluffing in the wash.

Thanks to everyone for the advice - I'm very insecure about the new hem lengths and this helps. I've made so many mistakes in the past and have had to make shorts out of them and I have enough shorts. Good idea Marilyn, I'll do the same. I like the frayed edge look.

I did mine today, Bonnie. They look great!

I won't lie.....the fraying was mind numbing and took about 40 minutes per leg. Totally worth it though and looks as good as the original. I made slits with the seam ripper, from my seam to the edge, about every half inch as I went along. Then used the seam ripper to cut and pull out the white threads in each section. Gave them a brisk shake outside (messy), snipped away the remaining white threads, then into the wash. The fray faded a bit with the first wash and will only get better.

Thank you so much for explaining how you did it. I really liked the frayed look and am glad there is a way to replicate it.

Great hacking job!

I don't know about the hem but I love your T-shirts. You've inspired me to go and find t-shirts with great pictures on them.

Love the second pic for length, really love the outfit. That tee is perfect! I liked it when I saw it before and I really like it here. You wear it well! Enjoy!

Your hack is perfect, Bonnie! I love these on you, and agree with others; your tees and topper are fab. What a great look!

Like Marilyn, I did my fray work this weekend, sitting outside on a glorious day. After I was done and came back indoors, I saw our wrens pick up the threads to use in their nests.

These look great! I finally bit and ordered them. For $27 I can try them! I have a hunch they will be too long and will need to hack them if I like the fit everywhere else. Marilyn, thank you for your instructions! I will be referencing them and setting aside time.
