Should I consider this? ETA: quick decision made @ bottom thanks to YLF wisdom

I have total lust and "wants" for the white kimono Suz is considering. I think it could work both with my work capsule and with my casual capsule for the next few months, especially after seeing how versatile it is in Suz's post.

I have the Eileen Fisher silver metallic linen slouchy tee on the way to me and Jones New York dressier white jeans (two sizes) to try when I get home today. Hopefully these will work as they will completely round out my clothing options for summer.

I'm also on the hunt for white sandals - they are a semi-need. I can get by without them but I don't have a completely light pair of sandals and am finding the darker ones I have don't necessarily work with everything.

So my question is - would the kimono flush out even more outfit options for me in the two capsules mentioned above to warrant the purchase? I do have less in my casual capsule than work capsule and always find when summer comes around and I'm off work more, that I feel somewhat restrained in my choices for things like hanging out on a patio having drinks, going to the various small town festivals that our family enjoys going to, that sort of thing. Plus we plan on attending a week long folk music festival (very hippie/bohemian kind of crowd) in July and this kimono could work for that.

Or are the white sandals more important? I'm not sure budget wise I can do both the kimono and the sandals.

It's really pretty Shannon, but it's polyester, would you be wearing it when it is hot out?

Ceit has a good point - polyester would ruin it for me for a summer item. But everyone has their threshold. I'm not sure I love the white kimono for you so much Shannon. I mean it's a "fun" piece but is it a truly functional piece for you for the summer? Do you have other summer weight jackets?

I'd probably go for the more practical light sandals (but for me I don't know that I'd choose white).

Well I think it's gorgeous...and have ordered it and a pair of silver pointy toed chunky heel shoes from Zara. Should be arriving today or tomorrow. I hope it will work with a light grey sheath dress I'm intending to wear for an outdoor/indoor wedding in July. I have tried it on in-store (my size not available) and found it extremely light weight - I can picture it as well with a pair of light denim clams and tshirt. Something to cover my shoulders and arms from the sun, but won't make me roast. I have nothing comparable in my wardrobe and thought this would be a cooler (in every sense of the word) option than jacket/blazer.
Enough about me! I know you could rock it - and I would like to your stylings for inspiration!

It's super lightweight and easy. I'd wear it on all but our hottest, most humid days. We get into the mid 30s with very high humidity sometimes and for those days, probably not. But I'd wear it basically any time when the temp / humidity combo was lower than 30s-feeling -like-40s, any time there was a breeze, or any time there was some air conditioning.

But it's tough to compare to sandals, Shannon. Footwear always gets my vote in that if you find the right pair of sandals, you will wear and love them for 2 to 3 more seasons. And if you are lacking light shoes, that is an important gap.

Also, selfishly, I am hoping you won't give up the sandal search because I need your help, LOL!!

But I want you to have both items!

I think you should try it Shannon. I have the white one and the blue silk which I recvd earlier in the week. It is poly but is super airy and it is the perfect jacket for Wpg when you need something light. It will be lovely for patios, AC etc.
And although I am in love with the white, for myself I am undecided because it feels like quite a statement and I am quite shy - if that makes any sense.

I can see you in a Kimono jacket, Shannon, but I see you more in white sandals. I think I hold to the old-fashioned idea that shoes are the most important thing.

But then I'm situated in time and place such that I remember when people did not have them. Which is odd when you think about it.

Also, I feel like you're the happiest when you have more structure in your outfits.

As usual, Rachy gets right to the crux of it! You're right - I am happiest when have more structure in my outfits, which is why I struggled for the longest time with the BF silhouette.

And as most of you have pointed out, the lighter sandal is a gap in my spring/summer wardrobe for sure and probably more of a need.

Polyester doesn't really bother me at all and I'm one of the few that doesn't get overly warm or sweaty in it so that's not really an issue for me.

But needs outweigh wants and white sandals are more important. So is sticking to my budget. So decision made: white sandal search continues and I will enjoy these beautiful kimonos on others.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality ladies - this is why I need you all

You're smart for thinking it through BEFORE buying. Sometimes I get influenced by YLF and on my own accord go buying stuff bc I saw it and it looks fab on someone else...but would it really work for ME? Maybe not so much. I've made a few of these mistakes.

My point is, kudos to you for thinking it through and making the better decision and not getting caught up in the whirlwind.

I should think about this thread next time I get lured in by something someone posts here!
