Jean, I totally agree with you!!

I care alot bout what people think...and WE all seemed to care when Angie was insulted..!!

Una did you really call Your co-worker a middle aged red-neck?...OUCH!

Believe me, he OWNS it - he considers it a compliment! ETA: Oh, and we're the same age.

We just can't please everyone:(
He will likely keep his opinions to himself in the future:)

I can't find the WIW- is it UWP? Stake him with your son's plastic sword, Princess!

Of course, one of the fun things about posting here is to get people's reaction!

And, I do think that both on the forum and IRL we have to be ourselves and know what criticism to pay attention to and what to ignore (i.e. Una's co-worker and Glamour's silly article that showed Angie's outfit.

It seemed like, by using the same phrase, Jean was directly discounting Anna's response but I don't think that is fair.

Oh right, the only thing wrong with that outfits are the boots...please give them to me! Where's the sword?

Una, that outfit is HOT. I especially love the color of the boots. I can see why your co-workered didn't "get" it. At least he's honest...LOL! So, do you give HIM outfit feedback? (-; After all, what comes around goes around!

Jean-I think you are right and I may not have explained myself well. I do post here for the feedback so I can improve. I recently took back two pieces the forum showed me how they weren't working. I trust the forum to help me expand my horizons.

For the first 15ish years of my like I refused to wear anything brown. Because brown is the color of dirt and poop, and so it's ugly.

Now almost a third of my clothes/accessories/shoes are brown. And another quarter are tan. I wear something brown or brownish almost every single day. 14 year old me would be shocked and appalled! So given that I don't care that me ten years ago would have hated most of my outfits, I have a hard time worrying too much if people with weird color/style hangups or simply limited exposure doesn't dig what I'm wearing.

On the other hand, I will never take things as far as the man repeller does. Though I have to say that either my eyes have adjusted significantly or she can't dress as crazy in the summer because she can't wear a ton of layers (I'm thinking it's the latter), because she looks a whole lot better (or at least not as absurd) in these recent posts than the ones I saw last winter.

It's true. Una, you start the funniest threads (and come up with some very apt labels/phrases).

Hm, well, I'd by lying if I said I didn't care what people think of the way I dress...but honestly I don't think I've ever had someone come out and say 'I don't like your outfit' to my face. (No idea what they might be thinking it behind my back...).

I might care less about some opinions than others, however. If a middle-aged redneck offered criticism on my outfit, I don't think I'd be too bothered. As it seems you are not.

Oh yes I care very much, but there are some people you just KNOW are talking rot!!!

I care what my lovely YLF sisters think! But that's because you are stylish, have good taste and if you think something doesn't work then there is a good chance you are correct. In keeping with that line of thinking I respect the opinions of people I think are stylish but I really don't mind what the general population thinks. For the most part if I like the way I look and feel, then Im pretty happy. Hubby gets special consideration tho, but then for a completely non-fashionable person, he actually has quite a good eye.

You are hilarious!
It depends on the person, I respect my mother opinion (she has a great eye for the fit and for what flatters), my hubby (he has excelent taste) and YLF opinion (you ladies are the best and I always count on your honest opinion)!
If someone with questionable style has a different opinion, I say thanks for your opinion but I don't take that in consideration..

Una, I don't have much time these days, but stopped by to tell you the outfit was awesome, in the off-duty model way. You looked very long-legged and young. It's ok to be annoyed by a co-worker comment. I had co-workers who discussed my outfit behind my back, and that stung a lot. What can I say, the mirror and the pictures are a girl's best friends. And they show clearly the awesomeness of the outfit.
