I saw it today, and like Ornella said, I just saw it and had to try it on.

The color is the perfect red for me, similar to the red jacket I returned. The cotton is very lightweight, so it's a perfect summer dress. They only had it in 36, which was too big on me. It was too roomy on top, the hem hit under my knees. Maybe I would still have to shorten it a bit. I could try and find a 32 or 34 tomorrow in another store. The problem is, I really don't have the money for it at the moment. I would have to take a bit away from the money I set aside for Florence! Now, I don't know what I should do. Maybe they won't even have a smaller size or the sizes won't fit so the problem would be solved anyway. But what if they have the smaller size and it fits? Is this dress worth taking some of my Florence money? I don't think I could wait because the dress will probably be sold out fast. I wouldn't get a problem if I use the money for Florence, I would just have less money to go shopping there. But if you say the dress is not worth it, I would stay away from these stores the next few days.

And I'm finished with exams for this semester! My other oral exam was also great, the result of the written exam comes in a few weeks.

It's a nice dress, but if you don't have the money than I would let it go.

I'd save the money for Florence.
Then, if this dress in the right size waits for you when you come back - buy it
If it's not there, it wasn't meant to be.

The summer is coming, there'll be other dresses.

(One more thing, I'd buy it only if it really fits - personally, if something is pricey, I expect it not to need more than a very basic alteration.)

Firstly, congrats on your exams, you model student :).
Secondly, I agree with the others, don't rush in, because you probably won't need this dress for months.
But, I wouldn't expect too much shopping in Florence, though. It's a tourist destination, and except for the omnipresent chains, which you probably have at home, I wouldn't bet on finding any student budget friendly fashion there.
So, I advise you to concentrate on having fun, sightseeing, tasting local food, and shopping for some keepsakes for your family and friends.
And make loads of pictures, they are the best souvenir.

It's hard to tailor the top of a dress like that. Unless the fit is perfect on top, let it go.

Ah, this is the dress all the cool girls had when I was in college. I had several that I made myself, but they were never quite as cool as store bought.

With the Mad Men styles around, I suspect you will be able to find a less expensive or a version on sale by summer. It is a really nice dress though. It does have to fit right as the others have said.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here ... just to provide another perspective. :o)

If - and only *if* - you find it in the right size, and it fits you perfectly ... I would buy it. It's so apparent from the way you write about it that you are in love with it - and it's a very pretty, classic dress.

Can you see yourself in Florence this summer - sitting at an outdoor cafe in your pretty red dress, and feeling like a million lira? *So* worth having a little less spending money!

If it speaks to you - and it fits like a dream ... don't let it be "the one that got away"!

I agree with Deb, if a smaller size fits you *perfectly,* I'd get it. Sure, there will be other dresses but from the way you talk about it, you'll always wonder if you don't try the other size.

Ljubica, I agree with you about serious shopping and tourists destinations. I will definitely take many pictures, my reflex camera is coming with me. I will make sure that somebody also takes a few pics with me in it, so I have something to show you when I get back!

Deb and Dusty, thanks for playing Devil's Advocate! I actually went today to have a look in the other store, but they didn't have one of the smaller sizes either. So I don't have to think about it anymore, the problem solved itself...

MsMaven, I hope you're right and I find another one, this style is funnily enough not so common in our stores at the moment. Or maybe I shop in the wrong ones?
