In the thrift store today I spotted a black 100% wool jacket. It is from Poland, of all places, probably made in the 80s, judging from the shoulder pads, which are, however, not SO exaggerated that they can't be removed or exchanged for smaller ones (i.e. the jacket would still fit and lie properly on my square shoulders.
I can't find anything that looks quite like it. It is long (almost like a riding coat) - longer than this one by Stella McCartney, but similar. I guess it comes to below my crotch. Somewhere on the high thigh. It is very fitted. It has a large collar that can be turned up, coat style.

I am sorry. I should have taken a photo but the light was impossibly poor.
The jacket is black. I already own a longish fitted black jacket that I adore. Therefore, I do not "need" another black jacket, especially not a long one, and it is not a priority.
But the cost is $10. Fit is perfect. The sleeves are very scrunchable. The fabric is lovely. And it is quite an interesting piece, somewhere sort of between a coat and a jacket, if you know what I mean. I could see myself wearing it as outerwear in mid-fall temperatures when you don't want a jacket indoors but you do need something outside.
It would look good with a knee length slim skirt or with skinnies (my main idea for it). Not sure how else it could be styled.
There are no returns. But do you think I should risk the $10?
