Shortening button downs

Is it an alteration that works well? End result and cost wise? The shoulders and torso fit well but it is too long . The hem is curved.

I did this recently for the first time with a shirt from BR and I was SO glad I did. I wear it all the time!

I did it myself to a couple of shirts, so cost was $0. I have worn the shirts a lot afterwards. Mine both had curved hems. I compared them with a shirt whose length I liked, marked the difference with pins, allowing for turning under, cut, and hemmed.

Jaileen, this particular shirt has slits and is a super-slippery material, so I'll let the pros handle this, but thanks for the tip about comparing to an existing shirt.
