Just thought I'd report back about the two pairs of shorts I tried from Nordstrom's, for those of you who are interested.
The Kut from the Kloth were wacky fitting (for me). Size 2 was too tight in the bum and thighs (my things are pretty muscular) and the size 4 was too big in the waist, and not in a way that seemed alterable. They might work for more of an apple, but on a rectangle with thighs, they were no good.
The Gallia Moda were a bit baggy in the rear, contributing to too much frump for my liking. Note that I am a member of the minimal butt club. They also don't have belt loops, which annoys me.
Back to the drawing board! I will probably try the white Kut "boyfriend" shorts next.
