Here it is after getting some products and delightful headbands from J Crew! They really are the headband hotspot. I probably spent at least half an hour trying on different styles. There was one really adorable one with big fabric flowers on it that looked so good on me but it was $32 and not on sale Hopefully it will drop in price later on.

I went to Aveda and they sat me down and tried this stuff out on me and it seemed to do the trick: http://www.aveda.com/templates.....D=PROD5932

It's very lightweight but leaves it so that I can do little touchups throughout the day by just scrunching it up a bit with my hands.

I'm very pleased. I look so cute Thanks for everyone's styling advice! It made all the difference.

p.s. the hoody is part of a lounge suit that I wear at home only. Please do not have an apoplexy.

Maya, I haven't had a chance to respond to your other threads but I really like your new cut. I also really like your expression in this photo:) You can really see that you are happier with the cut. The headband is perfect! I'm glad the new cut has grown on you as I think it frames your face very well. Looks so fun! Enjoy!

What a great cut! (Mine is of a similar length and I've been wearing it pretty smooth since getting the ends cleaned up again, but I really like the messier styling you have going on with the headband.)

Reading the back-posts of your "hair saga", it sounds like you and I may have similar textures (lots of hair, but not very thick, and tends to get static-y in dry weather, but greasy if you don't wash it or put in too much product?) I really like Shiny's advice in your Part 4 thread.

I sometimes let my hair drip-dry and then use a flatiron to smooth out bumps, but if I really want volume and chunkiness a round brush, root spray (I use Redken "Guts") and pomade (I use D:fi pliable molding creme) or spray wax is my poison of choice.

Well Done Maya! The headband is sweet. Would you consider head scarves as well?? I love the look of a scarf hanging down behind the nape of the neck.

I prefer my son to keep his hair short and buzzed. We let him grow it out once, but he is too "pretty" and has wavy hair, so he looked like a girl. So, now we pretty much insist on a short cut. Anyway, he likes to spike it, and I found this product called "spiker" made by Joico. It's a "water resistant glue". I don't know if it would be too thick for you, but man does that stuff work! I bought it at CVS. It is the kind of product you put in your hair after it's dried to help style it into place.

GLUE? Yeah, that would definitely be too much. I still want my hair to have movement and look like actual hair. The Aveda stuff is great. It has the consistency of whipped cream so it's very light.

I don't really like head scarves because they are too fussy. They rotate on me and I have to re-tie them constantly, and unlike metal/plastic headbands, they can't be taken off once they're on or you're left with headband hair.

maya you look SO cute! i love the headband on you. i have one that looks like that too, but in tan leather ;). i've been trying to grow out my hair from my last short cut, but looking at your photo, i'm tempted to cut it again!

Tanya, this isn't really for body. It just helps give my hair some separation and texture (so I get those neat little flippies at the ends). They (Aveda) have lots of volumizing products though, but I think the best thing for volume is to add a lot of layers. Mine does not look good when it's all one length.

I have used Phomollient and the volumizing spray and both worked but only if I blowdried it. I don't think they're as effective on air-dried hair.
