The saga continues!

I noticed yesterday when putting my hair up in a ponytail that my layers actually sort of form a graduated bob (at least on one side...the other is too long). So with a bit of sloppy photoshopping I created this:

I know it's lousy quality, but the lousy quality is exactly what made it easy for me to manipulate. I can't decide what I think of it. I don't dislike it but at the same time, I don't really like it any more than what I have now. It would be easier to maintain though. Now that you have all seen the long hair pictures as well as this one, I feel like maybe you can make a better call.

Also, the one benefit I see to having longer hair is that I can play around with it. I can put it up in a clip or hair sticks. What can be done with a shorter cut like this? Give me some ideas.

Sorry I keep going on about this. I take my hair much too seriously.

However, I can totally relate to the should-I-keep-my-hair-long question and that you might be a bit hesistant. Do you mostly feel like you want a change? Or is your longer hair bothersome in other ways?

Coincidentally, I actually know a girl that looks a bit like you (at least, you pictures reminded me a lot of her and she has a bob-style like this and looks great!

I really like it (or would really like it if it were a proper cut). The one disadvantage of hair that length is that you cannot pull it back. I'd make sure it's long enough to tuck behind your ears.

What's missing from this photo is the effect that shorter layers in the back will give to add overall height to the crown. The layers would have to be very short though - not sure you want to make that commitment?

I like this length on you, Maya. I wouldn't worry so mch about not being abe to put it up. You could put it up in two ponytails (keep them low and close to the nape of your neck). You can twist the ponytails and fasten them into little twisty stickyouty things. Besides, you said your hair grows fast.

It's only hair--it'll grow back if you really don't like it. Look at it this way--if you don't cut, will you always wonder if you should have? Cut it and then you'll always know. Remember, that as you get older, your looks and features change. So don't worry about how you looked 5 years ago.

I've had the same dilemma as to keep my hair long so I can put it up (so easy, especially for travel) or the length you have it in the photoshopped picture. Mine was cut short enough in back that it doesn't interfere with collars and long enough in front to tuck behind my ears. Sometimes I hold it back with a thin elastic headband. It also helps hold short pieces if I do pull the front back to make a small knot.
It is also long enough to pull into a ponytail, but I use a barrette from France I bought a few years ago at Nordstroms that is in the shape of a tortoiseshell bow and makes a flat ponytail...much more stylish than a scrunchie, which will also work. Your hair is probably much thicker than mine, but maybe these ideas will help.
Your hair is beautiful long and shorter. It sounds like you are ready for a change and shorter will give it more volume.

Shiny, I realized that later on and I went ahead and added a little more volume at the top and now I love it. Actually, my layers right now are usually quite short. The shortest one would normally hit the top of my ear, but since I haven't cut it in a long time, it got too long. I don't mind short layers at all. I'll post pictures next Saturday when I do the deed Thanks for all your advice ladies!

I love the short bob on you. I completely understand your hesitation, but honestly, I think shorter hair is usually more chic, and I think on you it would be amazing.

I love it now! I would go get it hacked off right at this very moment if I could, hehe.

If anyone else ever wants a Photoshopped haircut, let me know :p I am going to print this picture and bring it with me on Saturday, along with the BR one (since clearly my simulation of choppiness and texture looks a little weird).

Next week She was booked for the whole weekend and I can't go during the week. My appt is at 9:00 and it made me ill thinking of having to get up that early on a Saturday, but if I didn't take that spot, I would have to wait even longer.

Maya your photoshop skills are amazing!! I think your new hairstyle is going to look great!!!

I'm getting my hair cut next sat as well - want to get a big hunk off but not sure how much!! I might start a new thread and ask for advice. We can compare results and/or commiserate together next weekend
