I'm back from Hawai'i and feeling better, although still amid chaos!

Am experiencing a lot of wardrobe angst as I'm about to transition to seriously professional career and realizing that things like drop-crotch camo pants and Allsaints shredded cardis have little future in my daily life. I'm doing some serious purging of things that were real experiments (floral skinnies, preppy striped shirts) and hanging on to my edgier UWP stuff for now.

I also ordered a few things that arrived while I was gone, specifically the Rag & Bone shirt and stretchy skirt recommended by Angie (#1), an indigo Theory suit (#2, on final sale - thankfully I know my size) and Rag & Bone Newbury booties in a petrol green, also on sale (#5 and 6). In HI I found a black Helmut Lang blazer on supersale at the Rack - it has this mesh-y trim along the edge. Very comfortable in the shoulders, but must be at least a 10 even at the sale price.

Oh, and I tried the emerald Funktional drape shirt, but the S was huge on me and a bit too fussy to keep in place. Same one cciele tried, I believe.

And in sorting through orphans, I found this short plaid j. crew skirt (thrifted, tried on to match boots, resulting in this ridiculously silly man-repeller outfit) and this Missoni skirt, which I think will work for casual summer, If not too short. Laugh away - they are worn with my Mickey Mouse pj shirt and the hat from Le Chateau that bj1111 ordered for me, which I LOVE! Stripes I can wear!

Feedback on new clothes, booties and Theory suit alterations welcome - what is the most versatile pant length? Professional shoes remain a serious wardrobe hole,.,,

It is so fun to put on outfits like in #6 and #7 as an antidote to your newly required professional image, isn't it? Otherwise dressing would feel like a chore and no longer fun. The skirt and boots go great together, maybe you could wear them together with a simple chunky sweater?

Love the boots! I ordered them in a washed grey color (on sale too) but they are not as soft as my black ones. So I am on the fence. Also, I can't figure out many things to wear them with.

I like the sweater and skirt too. Could they work at work or are they for casual wear?

Once hemmed, you will get a ton of wear out of the indigo Theory suit. How fantastic that you got it on final sale!

I think the Helmut Lang jacket is very cool. Once again, is this a workwear item or for your casual capsule, and are you needing to replace any of your black blazers? Is what I would ask myself to determine if it is a keeper.

Una, I love it all! I totally hear you on work life clothing though. Now that I'm back to work I feel like I need a while wElardrobe overhaul. Some things just aren't practical anymore and some things just won't get worn due to me having little time outside of uniform and pyjamas! I definitely don't need a lot now, but I do need functional clothes.

Ok question. I love the Rag and Bone booties too and was sort of eying a pair for next fall. Do they run small and like how small?

The suit is amazing and I love the jacket too. It's interesting without being fussy. I like the skirt too but not sure how you would style it for work. How would it look with a shorter fitted jacket and ankle boots? I hope Angie chimes in. Glad to hear you had a good time in HI - it's such a great vacation spot.

I think the suit, skirt, shirt and jacket are all fabulous. The suit is amazing and I don't see any need for alterations except, obviously the length - I guess with your most commonly worn work shoes? I love the jacket. And the hat. Not sure what to say about Mickey and the minis, but they wouldn't stop me from going out for a drink with you.

Una, it's so good to see you back. The first outfit is fabulous. The bright top just seems right right on you. The Theory suit is a WOW. I'm not a good judge of the blazer, but it looks great with your light jeans. Would you be rotating it with your Theory blazer?
The boots look great and look at your beautiful legs in 5&6! Those outfits are so much fun. #4 looks like a rebellious way to wear a school uniform.

I am on my phone but all the new stuff looks great! Can you wear it all to work? I also like the old skirts if you can still wear them on the weekends.

Theory suit is my absolute, by far favourite! Next comes the skirt in 1. So very Angelina Jolie! I am not sure about the yellow top's hem with the skirt. I love the idea of the yellow, but the cut seems too boxy/short for this particular silhouette.

As for the pant hem, you have to go from the footwear you wear most to work. With this suit, I would try to keep it as long as possible.

Theory suit is fantastic -- HUGE score!! I also love the top and skirt in #1. The citron's such a great colour for you and the skirt seems useful and fun at the same time.

Love the booties, too, and the HL jacket looks fab. As others have asked, is it a replacement or a duplicate or how will you wear?

I would be delighted to join you for a drink in your minis and Mickey.

Love the new stuff, particularly the booties and the HL blazer! and the suit is gorgeous! I would wait to hem the pants till you buy the right shoes and I would go for the highest heel you can comfortably wear on the regular basis. And make sure to leave an extra inch or two of he material there just in case.

The mini outfits remind me of some quirky stuff my very stylish Japanese friend wears,

I like all the new pieces, especially the skirt in #1. (What is it, by the way?) I think they'll be very versatile for the new work wardrobe. Could you wear something like #1 to work or would it be too casual?

And call me crazy, but I actually kinda like the Mickey&mini outfits.

OMG - the Theory suit is AMAZING on you. This is a fantastic addition to your professional capsule Una - both as a full suit and as separates you can mix and match. I also love the boots and the HL blazer - keep.

Love the citron top in #1 and can see that with both work and casual outfits. I like the fit of the skirt in #1 but I'm not crazy on the color - I think I'd like it to be a slightly darker grey. But that's just me.

And wow - you have fantastic legs and way to show them off in those short skirts

As for the "Mickey and mini" puns, you all are too clever! Drinks on me!
Am glad the Theory suit is a winner. It's a different color for me, sort of a purple-ish navy, but I think it will be versatile.
The skirt and top don't have to go together - these are all just "try on" photos.
HL jacket fits in the shoulders and arms - my worry is whether it is too long for me, as I am not designer height...
I had the opportunity to meet with some future workmates (also friends from book club!) and saw what they were wearing. Mostly just professional looking pants, button-downs and cardis, or dressier tops. Only one person was wearing a blazer, and it was not a matched suit. So I think I'll be okay at least for now with my own closet, except for pants.
Raisin, the booties seem TTS but a little narrow - I always order a half-size up because my feet are so wide, so my "usual but not true" size fits at I expected. I put in an insole as Rita suggested which makes them much more comfy at this heel height, which is high for me!

Angie, thank you for chiming in! Is the fit of the HL blazer okay to your eye? I threw it on casually here but was planning to wear it as a work blazer too. So happy the suit works!

Una, which items are you planning to wear for work? Obviously HL jacket and Theory suit. Green boots, maybe? Maybe top in 1, under a jacket? But not skirts in 1, 5 and 6, correct? Which I realize now is all the skirts. I need clarification to give you good advice.

K, the suit and HL blazer, and the skirt in #1 (which I think would be fine with a blazer) are the only work items under consideration. And the booties with pants. I don't think the top in #1 is work-appropriate for me. All the rest is old or fun casual stuff. No Mickey Mouse t at work, sadly!

I think #1 and #2 are super attractive. They really appeal to me. They have a touch of femininity that's kind of hard to put your finger on, and are very intriguing. The petrol green booties are TDF.

Also, you must realise, mickey mouse and the plaid skirt and green boots... they belong together...

Okay, so feel free to disregard and I know this isn't going to earn me a lot of love from everyone else, but... I think for the specific job that you need this for, the skirt in #1 wouldn't be my choice. It looks like a silky, drapey fabric and reads more evening than professional wear for your particular situation. I think it is lovely and it looks fantastic on you. I'm just not sure that it meets your requirements for work wear. However, you know what your counterparts wear and it may be that my environs are more formal than yours. Outside work? Absolutely, 100% winner. How's that for hedging and qualifying and skirting (ha ha!) the issue?

Thanks, K! I value your opinion highly since you are in the same field! The skirt is a matte jersey Olivia Moon skirt. You could be right about the style, but it's not shiny or slinky evening wear material. I should restyle and see what you think. I like that it is comfortable for sitting and modestly below the knee.

A two-inch no-nonsense heel. I'd have the suit pants hemmed to that length. Then I think, some interesting silky blouses - pattern or neckline. I'd stay away from the silky scoop neck tees; too obvious.

The suit is amazing. Ditto on the 2 or 2.5 inch heels. Love the R&B boots. The last 2 skirts are a little short IMO ( says the girl with the floral computer bag, ack), and the knit skirt, well, I have never been able to make those work for me for the office. They feel too casual.
Great haul and the Hawaiian sun totally agrees with you. I love your coloring!
