So in a fit of weather related crankypants rebellion I bought these:

I think Sarah has them. I still wanted some nude sandals after the Miu Miu incident. But it's very possible that I might not wear them till July around here. The high today was 47F, tomorrow it'll be 50F.

But I also went to All Saints and tried on some black shearling lined boots. The shearling is Toscana style (longer hair). I can't find a picture of them online. But they're mixed smooth leather and suede with multiple horizontal straps on the shaft. They fit and were comfy but also expensive (you'd think they'd be on sale by now). I have a pair of short moto shearling lined boots that are starting to wear out.

Should I return the nude sandals and fork over the $$$ for the boots that I'd get a full 3 seasons of wear?

Probably :\ I've been looking at picking up some shearling lined boots myself; I've been wearing boots all week out of necessity (stupid rain) and am certainly more inclined to increase my boot collection (9 total) than sandal collection at this point (6 total).

I'm "crankypants" because of the weather today too, Anna. Holy cow, I thought my apartment building was going to wash down the hill about an hour ago.

Yes, I would recommend spending your money on shoes that you can wear more than the 2 months out of the year when sandals are practical for us. I almost added a pair of sandals to my "wish list" this year and then wondered why, since my few other pairs are still in decent shape. But spend your money on a pair of boots or shoes that also makes your heart sing!

Over at my parents' house, my dog is probably standing at the back door forlornly pouting and hoping that someone will turn off the rain so she can go outside.

That is a sad state of affairs! I think I have more cute sandals than there are weeks of summer around here. That being said, nude sandals are a must for me this year. I can't wait to wear mine.

sigh, I deal with this way too much. Just when I'm settled in Tahoe again and its 9 months of winter, it's time to pack up for FL and conversely 9 months of summer. It's no wonder I have a confused wardrobe half the time.
I would actually buy the sandals because you will (hopefully) get to sport them very soon and theoretically boot season is coming to an end in a few weeks.

Heh Mo, our weather is so awesome that we can wear boots nearly all months of the year. Really, only July and August is "probably won't be able to wear boots" time 0:)

As much as I want you to keep the DVs; it does seem to make sense to spend your hard earned cash on the spendy boots.

I only enjoy cold weather for the month of December. After 01 January, I am so ready for Spring and already shopping for it. And I don't have to put away summer until early/mid October most years. Spring/Summer is definitely where the bulk of my money is spent and it is definitely my favorite season to dress.

@Aida: and even then, the dominant word is "probably", because we have had some weeks in July and even August where boots are definitely wearable. Last year's drizzly 4th of July comes to mind...

ah, good point ladies! I have been unusually lucky in that it's always been sunny and blue skies the few times I've visited Seattle. Maybe I should drop by to bring some sunshine your way???

It has also snowed in every month of the year in Tahoe, so I hear you!

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I just love cool (not cold) weather. Fall is my absolute favorite season! I'm as happy as the next person to see the sun come springtime.....but summer follows too quickly, and dressing for the heat is always a challenge for me. When it's hot and humid it's really hard to look fashionable...or even care! I slog through it, sweaty and uncomfortable, but by August I'm a real crankypants and SO ready to wear my boots and jeans.

Sigh. Maybe I should move to Seattle.

Of course, I vote for the boots!

Ok, I am obsessed with Allsaints boots, but I can't afford them. You MUST get those. Think how happy we dominant-summer people will be to sigh wistfully at your WIWs and imagine walking in your shearling boots...buying them is practically charity. Write 'em off on your taxes next year.

Totally relating to your crankypantness. I'm right there. Just returned the nude sandals I purchased and trying to find boots that aren't black! Really really really can't wait for at least 2 - 3 full days of sun (with some WARMTH).

I love your long hair (although lip gloss has got to challenging right now!). I meant to say that I take my hat off to ladies who have long hair in Seattle if you have a job that braves the elements like I do. My pixie came in very handy today.

I just have to say that when I sometimes feel depressed after just reading about your Seattle weather. I really hate the rain--I honestly don't think I could ever live where you do for that reason alone. Ugh.

Steph, we also happen to be going through an *unusually* rainy period (and actually an unusually rainy year even during times when it would normally be a little bit sunny, which is making me very cranky.) Most of the time, it isn't a constant downpour like it is today. It's just very gray and overcast and sometimes drizzly a lot of the time, and our sunny days are rare. However, as brief as our summers are, they are often perfect - very long days, and usually not too hot. (That being said, we sometimes have random weeks in July or August where it rains anyway!)
Aida, I think we are DEFINITELY overdue for a gorgeous early spring & summer after having such rotten weather last year...

Well we are not immune to crummy, rainy weather in NJ at the moment. It doesn't help that we are jumping from 40s to 70s in the same week. You can't figure out what to wear! And I haven't been able to get many outfit photos. The swinging weather really makes me want all my clothes in one closet now. I keep running back and forth between my winter wools and my summer cardigans.

I say get the boots, you will get more use out of them. There's no point stocking up on footwear you can't even wear yet, that's no fun. I am staying away from the shoe departments for just this reason, one day I want boots, the next sandals.

And as someone with long hair, and a lover of lipgloss, I'd be lost without a hair tie of some type at all times on my person. They are a lifesaver.
