After holding off on clothes shopping for months, I've had a couple successful days in building up my summer wardrobe. No pants/walk shorts just yet, but I did find a sundress and a few tops.

Polka-dot flutter sleeve top from H&M:

Don't mind the jeans; they're terrible, but acting as a placeholder until I can find ones in a darker wash and more flattering fit. I'm not sure if the picture shows it, but the top is a creamy/pale yellow with reddish-orange dots.

This is a fixed wrap top with ruching on the sides. The sleeves are kind of balloon-y, but the picture doesn't show it well.

Purple empire waist top:

I was really excited to find a purple top! It's pretty low-cut so when I wore it out today I put a cami under it.

I tried on SO many dresses, and I was starting to think I wouldn't be able to find any dresses that worked for me, but I found this one in an unlikely place: Winners (I think it's the Canadian TJ Maxx). I usually hate that store and can never find anything there. Go figure.

So my next task is to find some cute walk shorts!

My favs (in order of preference) are the sundress (you were made for sundresses! gorgeous!), teal wrap top (great look on you), b&w top and purple top are a tie. The polka-dot top I'm not as keen on, I'm not sure why. It is cute though. Maybe it's the color. You look great in strong colors.

Hi ladies! Thanks so much for your responses. I am also wildly in love with the sundress. Angie, I think you're totally right when you say girls with curvy hips and bottoms are better-suited to dresses than pants. Pants and jeans are always a bit of a struggle for me, but in the right dress I always feel pretty.
I'm glad the jewel tones work well for me, because I love to wear them! I really like raspberry red so I guess magenta makes sense. I'll have to look around for some tops in that colour.
Tanya, the teal top came from a store called Dynamite. I don't know if they have stores outside of Canada. http://www.dynamite.ca for their website.
