I TOTALLY do this. Actually, I live by it!
I have a neutral and essentials heavy wardrobe, so I get a lot of my variety via silhouette. It's one reason that winter dressing used to be more difficult for me when I lived in a very cold climate. Dresses/ skirts were less practical for me there and so my F/W silhouettes were more limited, and I would find myself bored. In summer, I had more variety in silhouette and in colour/ pattern, and that variety makes me happy.
In my current more temperate climate, the situation isn't as extreme, although I've been bored simply due to pandemic restrictions.
First set of things -- navy tops in various silhouettes/ styles across seasons. Next, jeans, skirts, pants in navy, across different seasons. I also have a series of navy dresses.
