Shopping Spree and Stripes Overload!

I went shopping today because I needed to buy new bras. Ugh....always a painful task for me! In any case, I persevered and tried designs one after the other and finally bought 5 new bras. They all fit great! Mission accomplished!

And since September is over, I thought I'll shop a bit too! I'm sharing dressing room pictures here - just for fun

I tried on many things that didn't click....and a few that did!

Showcasing here:

1) Chambray shirt. I didn't have any so I bought this one.

2) A Bardot style tee with stripes. Loved it....but it would require a strapless bra and I gave up!

3) A striped dress. Sorry - I tried it over my jeans! It was such a cute sailor dress But I didn't buy this either. I have helmet hair here! *chuckle*

4) Weird burgundy booties with a patterned heel. Tried just for fun!

5) A black jacket. I liked the fit but didn't love the finish. I left it....so proud of that!

6) This is what came home - 3 new striped tees! I love the wine tshirt on the extreme right....it's mega cute!

ETA: Already wearing the wine striped tee!

That chambray top looks phenomenal on you. It is SO flattering. I have a chambray top now that I like, but don't love. I really like how yours offers some waist definition..that's what I need to find. Love your striped tops

Stephanie, my fingers and toes are crossed for you! I like the shirt too. For me, waist definition is imperative coz I wear a size 36E bra. My shirts and most woven tops almost always need alterations, or they fall down from my bust like a tent! It's why I prefer knits....they fall into the body. But a well fitting bra is A MUST with knits.

I'm going to be the horrible one and say I'm not a fan of the chambray shirt... didnt notice earlier when you sent me pictures, but here I can see those 2 faded patches just around the chest area that I don't like... otherwise a total winner

Oh well, I didn't notice it while I had the shirt on so I hope it's not going to bother me. If it does - a pretty scarf to the rescue!!!

Chambray and stripes are some of my favorites, so yay for those! That boatneck version looks amazing on you, too, but I hear you on the bra issues. I rule out any pieces that would force me to buy a special bra, especially for everyday... an evening gown might be a different matter.

Liked what you picked, Maneera! I like the different color stripe T's and the chambray shirt is very feminine and flattering! I love that you were able to walk away from some of the other pieces, such discipline!

Good job on the bra hunt! I have a feeling the fading on the chambray shirt is less noticeable in person. The shirt looks great on you! I also love the boatneck tee on you, that's a remarkable neckline on you.

That first shirt is fantastic on you. And the tees will be really useful as well. I loved the boatneck one on you but if you can't wear it practically, I guess it is a no go. You did brilliantly to let the other stuff go. I wonder if the month off shopping helped your resolve. Do you think so?

You're damn right, Suz. It most definitely helped my resolve! All of a sudden, shopping is no longer a mindless activity for me. I enjoyed browsing a lot, but i only wanted to buy something that I knew:

1) Will add value to my wardrobe, full that it is already
2) Will be worn and enjoyed immediately

I've been enjoying dressing casually a lot this month, and i didn't want to buy anything that felt fussy. I have far too many dressy clothes....don't need any more.

The boat neck tee is actually a Bardot neck and designed to rest off the shoulders. It definitely needs a strapless bra (I usually wear mine with a transparent halter neck strap) but avoid these bras as much as possible. They simply don't offer the support I need and can only be worn for short periods of time. And why would I buy a tshirt I can only wear for short periods of time? I really really love that top too....it's extremely flattering....just impractical for me.

Congrats on the bra shopping. I need to find some new bras but got discouraged after I got stuck in a sports bra at the sporting goods store. I thought I was gonna have to call for assistance to get out of it!!! Looks like you had fun shopping!

That chambray shirt fits you perfectly. I love the detailing on the front. You will never regret owning a chambray shirt, they literally go with everything, from pants to skirts. It can be dressed up or dressed down.
