I've done quite a bit of shopping in the last two weeks and I'm starting to see more of a huge pet peeve of mine: t-shirts with a seam down the back.

I used to work at J Crew and we used to sell some. People didn't seem to mind (maybe because of the brand), but it bugged me. It looks cheap to me and I find it irritating to have a seam down my back. I even found some in some higher end stores and was shocked at the prices.

The best I can figure out is that manufacturers are able to use more selvage in two back pieces when they're made this way and thus save on cost. How much fabric can a back of t-shirt use?
