Here are some additions I have made over the last two months. A mix of practical and fun pieces for some holes.

- Second hand knit navy and white stripe dress -$10. This is not the dress but it is very similar.
- navy Jelenew cycling shorts and top. These shorts are a very nice cut for women. I sized up because I am nervous about too small shorts. It was the right call. Numbers on cycling shorts are best to be ignored. Some are cut for Tour de France frames……
- black vest - second hand. I plan to wear with cream jeans, red pants, skirts etc. Really happy with with this second hand piece for $20 but I am yet to wear it.
- Scarpa spin planet trail runners - to wear cycling and on hikes and city walks. I decided on these as they are better for my orthotics than the NB 327 I had been eyeing up. I like the colours too!
- black Mary Jane shoes. A definite work footwear hole has been filled. I have thought of lots of ways to wear these.
- Patagonia Torrent raincoat. Only worn twice to date but this is filling my practical wet weather needs. It’s a pretty colour too.

I am trying not to add anything new except potentially sandals for our trip in August, unless I need a replacement item. Wish me luck!!

You always seem to buy with great care, Sal. These items look just right for their purposes. Congratulations on filling the work-shoe wardrobe hole!

I do try Sharan - but I make mistakes too.

Prices here are high with a weaker currency so that makes shopping wisely important. I do try to buy for holes but leave some room for wildcards. The dress and vest here were unplanned but the rest was carefully considered.

Great purchases - I can see these items having longevity in your wardrobe. The Mary-Janes are a nice fashion addition with a very wearable heel.

I understand the concern with the weaker currency a friend and I were saying everything seems to have recently doubled in price.

Fab and thoughtful additions Sal! All look like they will get a lot of use. I too have hopefully finished my seasonal shopping (spring/summer) in my case. After announcing I only wanted to buy 5 pieces this year I have been on a bit of a splurge. Although in my defence only 1 item is brand new, a cream sweater with black stripes. The others were all 2nd hand. They were in such good condition, a great price and fit into my style goals, so I could not resist. I did say shoes/belts (any accessories) were not part of the 5, and I have purchased New 2 belts and New 3 pairs of shoes (2 x sneakers and 1 x loafers), which are all fabulously comfortable. I edited 2 pairs of knitted sneakers, one worn out and the other so darn uncomfortable. I chose very carefully because in the last few years my feet are super fussy. So although I did not meet my numbers goal I think I have made good additions too. I call them numbers goals, because that is what they are, not laws. Life is too short for laws about things that make you happy

Excellent choices for both practical and style reasons. Mary Janes look great!

Thanks Bijou! Wearing the Mary Jane's today to work to get some wear in before I need to walk any distance in them. And yes prices are scarily high at the moment........not an easy time to be in retail here.

Star - you do well on the second hand additions!! No shade from me - accessories are pretty useful and essential and long lasting.

Thanks Lisa - Scarpa are a European brand focussing on outdoor activities (climbing, trail running etc). I wanted to buy in store locally rather than online and I wanted something that would work in a few different uses. I love my Merrell Moabs for hiking but needed something lighter for our travels. Activewear shoes are one item I truly do wear out...

Thanks Jaime. I have always had a soft spot for Mary Jane's - trending or not:) And black leather is just so easy to keep clean.

Thinking the waistcoat with skirts and cream jeans. I may wear it under a blazer but more likely with a long sleeve shirt underneath. I have to experiment a bit.

Wore the Mary Janes for work on Monday and they were very comfortable. Yay!!

Excellent additions! Glad the Mary Janes were comfortable on their first outing! Finding comfortable footwear is not always easy to find and makes me so happy when it happens!

I love this line-up--I love that it is a mix of utilitarian and chic items. It can be hard to remember to have enough of both. Those Mary Janes are smart--I think that style has been going strong a while, and I have yet to get a pair.

Thoughtful additions, Sal! I love the blue for you (of the jacket). It seems the perfect bright spring blue. And I am wowed that you found NAVY cycling shorts and top -- that would be brilliant but I have not seen similar n my neck of the woods-- it is all black or neon all the time around here it seems. Love the new Mary Janes and hope they prove comfy.

Thanks Suntiger. I expect the waistcoat will be more worn in spring and summer but I have a couple of possibilities for winter. Maybe over my black silk shirt or my denim shirt.

Suz - I was excited to see that blue too - it's a nice gear colour. Raincoats last me 10 or so years - I have a city one but this is more practical. And yes the navy cycling kit is very nice but it was oh so pricey!! However the shorts are comfortable which is a plus.
