Shopping for specs - part 2

Am I getting any closer? The optometrist brought in 3 frames for me. The ones that looked green in the product shot looked BLACK IRL and not good on my face (no pic). I took photos in the store (darker) and in front of the big windows (lighter) to try and show ‘real’ colour for two other fram shapes (one in different colours).

#1/2 same pair indifferent light situations
#3,4,5 - same frame but two colour ways (purple and amber)

I’ve set one pair aside, however the very patient and understanding SA is expecting a big delivery from a new supplier ‘any day’ and is going to give me a call when it arrives.

Edited to add a photo of my current/two year old glasses #6 for comparison.

Of these, I like the amber best by far fwiw! Still thinking about the round olive green ones, though, which I thought were very current and flattering.

I really like the shape of the last one on you, but I think I'd prefer a softer colour. The dark top seems heavy to me. Or, I'd like to see a softer colour to compare - maybe I shouldn't use the word "prefer" until I have

I mean #3, but now am not sure whether that's purple or amber! I agree w/ Elizabeth above about softness vs. darkness (again, fwiw).

Of these, I like the ones in 4 best (purple??) But, they all seem a bit dark, so I think it’s worth it to wait for the next shipment.

I agree that these all seem a bit dark. For some reason I am not finding lights or colors available this fall. Maybe it is time to complain to whoever does the ordering.

I also agree with the dark colour being a bit much.

I went back to your older post and I really like 1 and 7/8 from those choices better. I love the circular glasses on you as well. I love the light blue colouring.

Love the shape of all of these! But I also agree on the colour maybe being too dark? Cant say for sure without seeing a comparison though. You mentioned earlier that you are weaning yourself off dark footwear. Do you feel the same about eyewear?

I think I like 5 the best but agree these all seem a bit heavy and dark. Let’s see what the new shipment brings!

Attracted to purple but it's a bit dark. Hope there are more options coming.

I think that they are all abit dark for your colouring,shapes are good though.l have this problem too ,there are a lot of dark glasses around and not so many lighter frames.Hang on for the next shipment of glasses would be my advice.

I find these glasses dark against your colouring in a harsh way. Your original glasses are great. Maybe something will come up in the new shipment.

I agree with Style Fan - your original frames are much softer and prettier. #3 is a great shape, it would be perfect if it was in a light amber colour.

I like your original ones most too, but 3 in a lighter color would be great! From the other set, I liked the color of the olive ones best on you.

I think it’s getting a lot closer. I really like #5, though still prefer your original specs - they set a pretty high standard!

I think the dark top color just is a bit too hard and heavy for your face. And the frames might be a bit wide. I do like the purple part for you. Your current glasses are still the champion.

I too think that the colors are too dark for your face--though I like this round a lot more than the last. My fave is still your current pair. That pair brings out the color of your eyes.

I like #2 and #4. I think a lighter color frame in the purple or green range would highlight your beautiful green eyes. Have you looked at the Frames Direct website?

Shapes are good, Carla! But the darkness of them overwhelms your lovely face. Your light frames still look best because the colour is very flattering.

Came back to say, darker specs can work-if you add some darker make-up... I also bought myself burgundy/red cat eyes 2 yrs ago, and after a few days in despair of not getting used to them onmy low contrast face I put on some darker lids and lips, and they were slowly falling in theirs' place. And you don't even have to do the darker makeup for ever as big surprise after a few weeks people (and me, too) got used to the darker contrast frames on my face even with less and less make up....till even on bare face and nobody wonders now..me included!:-)

@lyn67 - DH volunteered that I could colour my hair a darker colour

I’m going to keep looking.
