Shopping Decision - YouLookFab Forum

Hi everyone,

I started a little reno project a few weeks ago and it seems to have taken on a life of its own. It has grown into two bathrooms (new tub/shower combos and flooring) and a few cupboard changes in the kitchen (adding drawers to lowers and changing pulls) so I haven't been around much.

I am trying to curtail my shopping as a result of the bathroom costs, so don't want to get both of these items but would like one.

I forgot who it was who posted the cropped ASOS leather jacket but I loved it. Then I saw this one which I also love and which would be more versatile for me. I wear jackets a lot in winter but have quite a few. None in camel though.

I also love this silk shirt from brooks brothers. I think it would work with a lot of my skirts and suits and the neckline is gorgeous. I've been into button shirts instead of knits for a while now.

You make it so hard to choose with two gorgeous items!

Do you spend more time dressed up or dressed down? How dressy is your work environment? I vote for the one that best fits your lifestyle and thus will get the most wear.

Don't you dress up a lot at work? The jacket wouldn't be so practical for that.

I love both but they are soooo different. How would you wear the jacket?

I do dress up for work most days but we have a very casual office and many people both senior and junior to me wear jeans on a regular basis so I have pretty much free rein in terms of my clothing choices.

I love that blouse and it would work with everything but I have a similar cut jacket in a boiled wool in black and have worn it more than almost any piece of clothing I own (over dresses, with skirts, and with jeans) although I wear mostly cool colors and neutrals. I have an olive leather jacket and a dark brown grometted faux leather jacket too.

I may have to keep the existing toilet and buy both. What a decision. LOL

I can see why you are torn - both are perfect pieces for two different purposes. I honestly can't pick as both are distinctive. It's also really hard to find a nice camel leather jacket and the perfect silk blouse.

Honestly it would be worth delaying the reno for a month and showering in the front yard with a hose for both pieces.

I prefer a more open neckline on you than the silk blouse and think the color on the jacket goes gorgeous with your coloring, especially since you darkened your hair.

I love both pieces. I'd vote the one you think you'd wear the most (or get both and then decide.) You may not like the color of the jacket on you once you try it since you usually wear cool tones.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Yesterday I went to ASOS site and the jacket was sold out in my size. boo hoo Last night I was reminded to check on brooks brothers after reading that the shirts were the fashion crack for a few people here. My shirt was on sale for $79 so I bought it. I guess if you wait long enough the decision is made for you. I do love the look of the shirt and know it will fill a space in my wardrobe,. The only hesitation I had was that ordering items and driving to the states to pick them up means if the items doesn't work out you are usually stuck with it as the cost to return is prohibitive.

I am pretty sure I will love it in person though.

Excellent. You will still have a bathroom you love plus a lovely silk Brooks Brothers. The silk blouse can be worn for basically any occassion too so that makes it really practical.

Ah, I love the jacket too and would have been tempted to buy it for myself if my size hadn't been sold out!

Still, I think the blouse will be a nice addition to your professional wardrobe.
