Do you ever feel as if you need more shoes than clothes, when you get right down to it?
Of course, this is not really a single question, since one person may be a "jacket person", another a handbag person and so on, and you could frame the question in those directions. So, it may be back to the generic concept of, what items get you the most bang for your buck?
And of course if you're a shoe person, you are looking for any good apparently logical excuse. And then there is the eternal question of how much of anything do you really need, and the minimalist approach of trying to have just one of most things anyway.
When I think about wardrobe capsules, I sometimes think I could do with much fewer tops and bottoms, by eliminating dupes and similar silhouettes, if I can jazz things up with a goodly variety of footwear.
I wonder if fussy feet play a role as well--even seemingly comfortable shoes may be limited for me to certain types of days and occasions, but I'll want to push the style envelope and so wear "prettier" shoes for 2 hours when I can, and then 4-hour shoes--you get the picture! Very hard to get the one shoe to rule them all. Or vice versa, I have pants and skirts and tops I could comfortably and happily wear for many different venues if I change the vibe with the shoes. And interesting texture and color--it isn't easy to find pants that really make a statement and still fit well, or have good but subtle color or texture--they are usually supporting players--whereas, if you look enough, you can get more different looks through shoes.
Or is it just the same problem of PPP, so that if you had the right shoes, like the right anything, you wouldn't need so many?
Enablers and restrainers, both welcome.
