My BFF has wider feet and loves Clarks!
My feet are changing as I age, but I think it’s mostly losing padding on the bottoms — some footbeds are just not as comfortable for long periods of time as they used to be. My decade-old LD Tuttle sandals have a heel of maybe 2” and I used to wear them all day long — now I restrict them to a few hours with not too much walking, and baby them a bit, keeping them for dressier occasions.
At the same time, my slightly wider left foot is sometimes the sticking point when it comes to shoe comfort. I need to make sure any shoes I consider don’t rub on that foot — I broke a bone (multiple bones perhaps?) in the top of that foot many years ago, and it’s more prone to feel discomfort if pressed on, now more than in the past.
My feet have always been slightly narrow and slightly low volume, and my heels especially so. It’s getting harder and harder to find shoes that don’t slip off my heels as I walk.
I feel very lucky to be a person who has relative ease with foot comfort, but even so, aging definitely takes a toll and introduces challenges!
