Shoes for a Dress

Okay... I realized the reason I am not feeling my summer navy dress for an upcoming baby shower is... the shoes. Or lack of shoes. I think it needs a really great shoe to make it feel more festive. Meaning, not brown.

I'm leaning toward multi-color... or floral?

Yes I agree - a bright sandal would be awesome!! I veer to a wedge or block heel. If I was wearing that dress I would love to wear my yellow sandals.....

The espadrilles are stunning but it depends if you like the ankle wrap. I do like them but they can be harder to wear with some outfits. The wooden soles are good too if you find that style comfortable.

I like the wedge heels best, both of them, prettier florals to my eye. The heels on all the others ( 2x Dillard’s, 1x Poshmark) look too high to me but that could be my own preferences and inability to wear high heels any more.
I personally love espadrilles so maybe like the second DSW pair a bit more. Do you have jewellery in any of the floral colours? Or hair accessories? That would add to the festive feel?

Jenni, I like the wedge a lot too! I admit, the heels are a bit higher than I've normally been wearing myself. But I also enjoy a good pretty shoe once in a while--even if the heel is higher. :} I'm torn as I enjoy them all.

I do like them, they feel more dressy but to me not as festive. Of course up to you! Angie always says (I think) “Wear what makes you happy”- at least she certainly said that to me when I was choosing my mother of the bride dress in 2019 and I did and it was the right choice.
You sound happier and excited now when you didn’t about the skirt!

I love the 2 dsw pair of wedges. Either one gives a summer vibe and would probably go great with other things you own. The haiku ones, if you love them--what Jenni said. I couldn't walk in them but you can!

The haiku ones would also dress up some of your other outfits that you have for summer, if you want that. Looking at all of your choices, I prefer the multi color ones over solids.

These are really fun options! I love that you’re looking at some adventurous, colorful styles. Have you thought about how any of those options would play with other outfits in your wardrobe? I’d hate for them to be a one-trick pony that only works with that dress. I’m betting that they would work with some skirt-top combos or even with some summer pants ensembles, but you know your wardrobe better than I do! An alternative would be a solid punchy color like the orange ones, which I really like too. But I love the idea of a patterned shoe!

I love the idea of a fun, colourful sandal or shoe with that gorgeous navy dress -- that will make a huge difference to how you feel in the dress. Especially if you can amp it up with some other colourful jewellery or bag or a hair tie or something.

I'd consider Janet's comments, and also COMFORT. Even if they're not a walking shoe, you need to feel good in them or your face will show it.

I’m going to be mischievous and say I like your brown shoes best. They look very Chloe. I love that Bohemian vibe. I would amp up the dress via jewellery and bag. Layers of beads and a brown suede bag to echo the shoes could look fab.

I like the idea of gold best. Personally I have never found printed or patterned shoes very versatile for my wardrobe. But a gold pair would be super versatile and pair beautifully with this dress.

Janet's response echoes what I am thinking, Ket. Looking at the fun options you presented, I was thinking they aren't your usual spicy mix of colors. The gold ones seem a bit tame, style-wise, or maybe too refined for the dress and it's more playful feel.

I'm actually not put off by brown with navy. I could see bold, colorful jewelry off-setting the look nicely if you go with a sandal in the tan/brown family.

I see Miz Mooz and Jessica Simpson heeled sandals in your Finds that I think could work well.
