Shoes for a beach wedding... wide toes!

I'm getting married in September on the beach in NJ. I found my dress. Photos of the dress are below. I lucked out and found a dress I love at TJ Maxx. I need to get the shoulders altered, but I love it! I want to get flat sandals to wear in case the sand is hot the day we're getting married. I have wide toes, so I have a hard time finding sandals that fit. If you have any suggestions for places, brands, or even specific sandals that have worked for you I'm all ears!

What a lovely dress - and you look lovely in it.

I have the Naot Hawaii sandal in the stardust color and think it would work with your dress. It also comes in white. The Hawaii is built on Naot's medium-to-wide footbed, which is important to me since most of their shoes are built on narrower footbeds that are too narrow for me.

Danskogirl beat me to it. Of all the shoes in comfort brands I own, Naot makes the prettiest ones. But was as DG wisely points out, some of their footbeds do run narrow. If you go to their website, it should tell you which ones run wide.

With wide toes, I have very little luck finding dressy shoes in fancy styles. So I stick with the basic styles in metallics which elevates the style a little. The Birkenstock Gizeh comes in some metallic shades if you want to go that route.

I don't know what kind of style you want, but since your dress is somewhat casual I think you have a lot of options. If you got sandals that only have a toe post (leather for example) then your toes would be free and the width wouldn't be a problem. There are several models here, you can see what I mean. I also got married on the beach, and I selected a pair of thong sandals with rhinestones on the bands. However, that was over 10 years ago.

My son played at a wedding at Tahoe several years ago. Since he wasn't yet driving, I was able to see what the wedding party wore. Flip flops! I'm not kidding. They were brand new fancy ones. Even the groom and groomsmen wore flip flops. It was really cute.

Congrats, and love the dress.

I love these Ipanema thongs because they stay on my feet when walking in the sand/dirt. I find the strap easy to slide on/off over my heel, so I can slip on quickly. Obviously very casual, but hey, it's the beach.

I would order up a half size as I find them just a smidge short and that should give you some extra width.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll go with my old stand by, Old Navy flip flops. I'll get a pair of white ones. They are wider for the toes. I just don't like wearing sandals where my toes are wider than the shoes, even flip flops. I'm going to try and "paint" the strap of the flip flops with the nail polish I plan to use for my wedding. I'm going to paint either my nails or my toes white and top it with this color. I think the flip flops will be cute and go with the casual feel we want for the wedding!
