Although nothing came out of my plans for redoing my main closet, I feel I should share the result of the rehousing shoe project anyway since so many of you took the time to share your storage solutions.

Here are my 2 drawers of spring shoes. I kept the boxes for future use but moved them down to the basement. I do have a few more pairs of older spring shoes that I don’t use often anymore but would keep.
Thanks again for your suggestions. I hope to use them properly one day.

Very nice Irina! I like the second from right shoes in the first pic- coming over to steal those ones…

Jenni NZ, thank you and steal away
I realized that due to my “excellent “ photography skills, most shoes look black. They are not! The pair of loafers in the middle of the photo #1 is ink and the second pair of Cole Haan oxfords in the photo #2 is navy.

ooh - look at those leopard boat shoes! Nice! This is incredibly neat and tidy and I take my hat off to you. How were you able to free up that much drawer space though?

LJP, thanks! The leopard shoes are so comfortable out of the box!
I kept sweaters in these two drawers. I put them in a plastic bin for off season storage. I will hang my summer knits, I don’t have many. I will return sweaters back in the winter. I have a limited collection of boots and don’t need to unbox it.

Glad you found a solution, Irina! Creative!

Hope it works out how you want it to

Also, Irina!

Better late than never. I snapped a pic of a part of our new custom walk-in-wardrobe where my shoes will live. Shoe rack on the bottom of the tall closet. ALL my shoes except snow boots and slippers will be stored there. (I don't swap out my wardrobe). I don't have many shoes to store either! I'm not a shoe person. It will be ample space

The special shelving you see a glimpse of on the left OTOH, is to store my 25 bags. I'm a bag person.

Angie, very nice closet! And what a great idea to display bags on custom built shelves.

Late to this, but here's my shoe solution (for now). The tall boots and short snowboots are in the closet, as are my biggest totes.
Glad you found a solution!
I have seen some narrow cabinets online that you put the shoes in vertically that seem like they'd work well for sandals and transitional shoes. https://www.wayfair.com/Millwo.....7f6fdfdaf9
