I ended up returning the Michael Kors nude pumps that I showed you, and my hands are still shaking:) The metallic ones stays. I know that many of you liked the MK pumps a lot for me, but I had to make a choice, I can't afford both right now. There are in fact three deal breakers with the MK pumps for me - heel height, color, and I didn't feel they were quite my style. They are still beautiful, I think. I'd very much like to add a more casual shoe to my wardrobe, too, and probably a flat sandal. I'm looking for a sneaker/loafer type of shoe, so I need to have some money for these, too. So - another dressy pump are now on hold.

The "nude pump" hunt has been an interesting exercise for me. I still think there's room for truly neutral colored pumps in my wardrobe, some that don't attract attention, but rather are functioning as a supporting act. I really need them to be practical, so I must be patient and picky.

What I've confirmed for myself, once more:
Versatility: Patent is very shiny, in a dressy way. Metallic is shiny, too, but it feels more playful. I might in fact prefer a suede pump instead because it goes a lot better with my lifestyle. Still not sure about this, though.
Heel height: For work, I prefer a lower heel than 3 1/2-4". Around 2-3" is perfect. For other occasions, I can manage up to 4" quite well.
Shape: I like pointy toes, but not too much.
Color: I am not fond of beige that tends towards brown, even though my skin color goes weel with beige shoes. I prefer a lighter sand/stone, meaning a slightly warm, very light grey/brown.

The metallic kitten heel pump will most likely become a workhorse for me. It is really versatile, comfortable, but most of all - it feels a whole lot more like my style: playful modern classic. To me, they are an updated version of the shoes I liked in the 80's, and when combining them with the boyfriend jeans, that feeling is reinforced. I adore it!

On the horizon: I like these very much, but they are above my budget, so for now, they are only eye candy. If they are really comfortable I might fall in love enough to save up for them. There's no hurry.

Thank you for all helpful input in regards of my shoe purchase. It's only shoes, but the PPP shopping rule and YLF has once again proved to be indispensable.

Well done and kudos to you Ingunn, I never got the chance to comment on your metallic shoe post, though I did on the MK's. I agree with you about patent, it can definitely be more dressy. The pumps in the photo above are a gorgeous shade and just what I envisaged when you described your perfect tone of nude. PPP and onwards and upwards!

Good for you. It's best not to load the closet with things that will only become orphans, however good they might be. The silver shoes will work much better for you.

Good decision, Ingunn. I've been trying to update my shoes and find rejecting a beautiful shoe that fits well because it isn't practical for me the hardest part of my K/R decision. On the other hand, It sounds like the metallic kitten heel ticks a lot of boxes for your wardrobe and lifestyle. I'm think you've just helped me make a decision on a pair of shoes that I've been hesitating about whether or not to return...

I struggle with this too, especially when the objects are so beautiful. I think you hit the nail on the head here, Ingunn - it has to be right for YOU.

Missed the metallic shoe post, so went back to check it out. Though I'm a big fan of the MK's I can totally understand your choice. The kitten will probably be every bit as versatile as the nude, and the heel height looks to be perfect--not too high to be hard on feet, and not too low to be thought casual. It will be perfect with the dressiest of pm outfits, or formal occasions like weddings, but also with shredded BFs (see Goldenpig's) amazing experiment with RATE.

Oh, yes, the urge to own beautiful shoes is strong with me, so returning the MK pumps were quite difficult. But I do feel good about it: I didn't overspend, and I still have room in my budget for more Spring updates.

Ultimately, no matter what current style or trends say, and no matter what others say, an item has to work for YOU and your wardrobe, so you absolutely made the right decision. Good for you for not keeping them and then not wearing them as much as you would have liked. And I can see how suede might be more compelling, too.

I hear you, and its very wise. I do this a fair amount. With a limited budget sometimes something beautiful has to go back or not come home in the first place even if it fits like a dream and theoretically fills a hole. It just makes a space for something else that is also beautiful but that will carry it's weight a bit more. The metallic pumps are something that can dress up and down, and the patent nudes could be hard to dress down unless going for a purposeful style juxtaposition to my eye,

I think you made a very wise decision, Ingunn. The metallic pumps are definitely more in keeping with your playful style and they can truly be worn at all levels of the dressy/casual spectrum. The MK pumps, while gorgeous, are a far dressier look. I think you are right in that patent frequently reads as dressy. Suede nude-tone pumps may play differently and would be fun to try.

I just looked back at your shoe posts and I think you made a smart choice! The nude ones are lovely, but they do look like they'd be hard to incorporate into a more casual lifestyle. The metallics seem just dressy enough to elevate outfits without being difficult to wear for everyday. And I hadn't thought about it, but I think you're right about metallics being dressy in a more playful way than patent.

I'm definitely guilty sometimes of keeping pretty shoes that fit me well, but don't quite fit my lifestyle, so good for you for avoiding that. I actually have a pair of, yup, nude patent pumps that might fall into that category.
