So I got these fuzzy baby blue Vans during NAS. They weren't part of NAS, but a pop-in.
On Monday after picking up my wallet I decided to do a bit of cheap shopping as I only had so much cash on me & waiting for new cards. I really needed an extra pair of jeans.
I checked out H&M, saw some cool long dresses, but I wasn't sure I'd have an opportunity to wear them. I checked out their jeans, tried some clearance ones on, but they were pretty horrid.
Went to Banana Republic. Zilch.
Did check out a shoe store, but not enough cash.
Went to The Gap. According to an email I thought they were having a big sale, but the store seemed to have only limited stuff on sale. Clearance was just the ugly dregs of summer.
I found a section of jeans that were on sale, including a bunch of their 1969 line. I found several styles of 100% cotton jeans. Grabbed a bunch of sizes, everything from 30 to *gulp* 33.
30's were too tight, 31 borderline. 32 fit but the style did me zero favors.
So then the last pair in the dressing room was a 33, dark wash with frayed hem. I was trying to figure out if they were the ones Angie rejected. They had the twisted seams & all. The 33 fit on my pelvic bones, so the right amount of intentional slouch. Hem was just at my ankle bone. Twisted seam didn't bug me. Plus super bonus they were only $9.99. I wondered if they were a sales failure for Gap, as there were many dirt cheap ones on the rack. They remind me of the Chimala's I got at Ingefest, and the 6397's I got at a local boutique last year. Unfortunately both of those no longer fit. I wish the Gap ones were a harder raw denim, but for the price I can live with it. I might cut the hem shorter, haven't decided.
Now to figure out what else I need.
Yesterday I took three items to the consignment store. The infamous Levi Re/done jeans I got for a ridiculous price at Barneys, were too small & missed return window. Then the Alexa Chung for AG denim dress, that I just had to have last year. That I was going to lose 10 lbs to fit into. ha! Also a striped ALC dress that I never really wore even when I fit into it. Shop owner was thrilled. Sunk cost is sunk cost. And if I did lose the weight I may not like them anymore.
I also decided I need a pair of black slim overalls. I tried the large, and it was a smidge too small. I think I'll order the XL later.
