Shoe dilemna

So, I'm feeling like all my clothes would look better with heeled shoes, but I'm in a mood to only wear flats. Not even wedges. Not even flatforms. I don't want man shoes, and I don't want insubstantial ballet flats. I suppose what I really want are some studded Valentino flats, but I have to pay rent.

I have to go shoe shopping.

Seems a few of us are in the same boat of needing 1 or 2 inch heeled shoes around here. And yeah, darn that rent anyway!

Silly rent! I understand the shoe battle. I would love to find a great pair of flats, but my feet are so narrow I walk out of almost every [air I try on.

Have been entertaining the idea of some saddle shoes, but I've been surfing the web and not feeling the oxfords and loafers on view. Too preppy, too mannish, or awfully flimsy-soled... I need to go into a store.

Are you saying you don't want heels but need them? Or that you want better flats?

Fidjis? I'll have to google these. I like those Steve Madden's; I'm afraid they might be too slipper like, too delicate; but I should find a way to get to Nordstrom's. Oh-mi-gosh, I kinda actually miss the suburbs. It was so easy to get to Nordie's and so forth. Now all the major stores are miles and hours away, because city living is a big ol' pain.

Butch is fine. I need something not too pretty to feed my soul. But it's like, even man shoes can be too pretty, if you know what I mean. And I'm also not in the mood for the sort of ugly shoes that also say I have parts of Lord of the Rings memorized and might be a cute librarian.

Anyways, I think it boils down to needing better flats.

Just back from an, ahem, long lunch. Went to DSW. Depressing. All sandals and hooker shoes. I probably just need a pair of boots with no buckles.

Nordies, Endless & Zappos do free deliveries & returns. With Nordies, I gather up a bunch of returns and go to a B&M with a list of what I want to check out since they want their returns via the post office, and I find going to a PO pretty annoying. Endless & Zappos do UPS which works better for me.

Really.you.do.not.want.to.move.back.to.the.suburbs. Encounter a pack of middle school girls and you will remember why you moved.

Okay, *I* have parts of LOTR memorized. Mostly the scenes from the movie involving Viggo Mortensen clad in leather, but still.

I brush my dog's teeth - saves on shoe money!

I *think* it's the coverage at the top of your foot. Also not a shoe expert here!

I think you can compromise with a low heel (wedge or otherwise). Even canvas shoes now have a 1/2 - 1 inch wedge heel that is really comfy but subtly adds a little rise. Personally, I see nothing wrong with flats 24/7 if that's what you love!

My knees are hurting. Driving a stick-shift in heavy traffic is heck on the knees! 1/2" is ok, but any thought of any kind of heel makes my knees twinge. LOL.
