Shoe capsule - YouLookFab Forum

My foot wear capsule is pretty limited for fall. I'm considering ordering a bootie for some variety and I'd love your opinion. Right now, the shoes that work are all tall boots (shown in pic. 1.) You would think my Doc oxfords would work but the sole is too thick/heavy and there is not enough of a heel (differential from sole to heel.) The Nine West (pic 2) and the Petty (pic 3) meet my heel criteria. Not sure if they will be comfortable but I'm willing to give them a try. These will be worn exclusively with slim pants/BF jeans and take the place of my cognac Report Marks. Do you have a preference in terms of versatility? I don't really want black so I thought I'd try the Petty in Emerald. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

ETA: The Carsons are limited to straights and bootcuts so I don't know if color duplication is an issue or not.

Did you wear your cognac Report shoes a lot? It comes down to color for me- I love the emerald but did cognac play an important role for you?

@shedev: I think the petty would work. I have black, blue denim, burgundy and olive bottoms. I think it's a softer dark than black, I think.
@shevia: I wore my reports in cognac and black quite often. I think cognac was a good color for fall/winter and added some contrast to my primarily dark colored wardrobe. Maybe I'm better off with the brown now that I think about it.

The pettys are extremely comfy. I have been raving about them for a year and own a pair too.

Thanks, Angie! I like the richness of brown in 2 but remembered that the Pippen was on your NAS list. I thought the buckles and the suede might not jive with my capsule though. Thanks for lending me your fashion eye!

ETA: Did you mean both Edelman's or photos 2 and 3? A little slow on the uptake over here!

ETA: Cinnamon brown is 4, I think. I had to go look at my jar of cinnamon.

I like 2 and 4, because both are brighter colors and you already have tall dark boots for fall.

I'd go with whatever is comfortable. They would all work with your wardrobe!

Well, as Cathy says, in this situation, comfort absolutely rules. I do think those emerald Pettys would be brilliant with your blues and plums and greys. Just stunning (they are tempting me, too). But I also love the booties in #4 a lot for you. So...is there room in the budget for 2?

Also, I MUST talk with you about your tall boots. I suspect we need a similar shaft height and width on our boots. What I need to find is one like that, but a bit more refined than the Veronicas. More urban princely, you know? Although, to tell the truth, if things continue as they currently are, the Veronicas are looking awfully appealing to me. They fit you wonderfully well.

Thanks, Lisa, Cathy and Suz! You are absolutely right about the comfort issue. I was just trying to decide what would be the most versatile since I'm hoping I will be back in my normal shoes at some point.
@Suz: I would love to get two but I should only get one at this point. I do think I will be able to wear my Report Marks at some point--and those are very similar in color to the Cinnamon Brown Edelmans.

Ah, tall boots! Love them. I will keep my eyes open for something urban princely for you. I do think the Veronica's can look refined but am afraid that once they start to slouch they might loose some of their refinement. The same thing happened with my black NAS boots shown in my first picture--I can't remember if they are Ecco or something else but they have buckles and a suede back and they get slouchy as the day progresses. I think of your style as much sleeker and more polished than mine so I'm not sure if you will be okay with the slouch. 14" is about the maximum height for me. Is it the same for you?
