Shirt Dress - Keep or return?

Hi everyone,
Apologies for sparse postings. Chicago weather hasnt been very motivating to dress in anything other than snowboots and puffer for me! Feeling totally depressed - found this shirt dress in Old Navy - I really like the slightly stiff material as its quite forgiving on my middle and has enough structure. But I am not really sure about the length - is it too long on me?should it be a little more above the knee or does it look fine this way? - Of course I will have to wear it with leggings if I were to venture out in chicago weather right now - but I wanted to test how it looked without it. Also sorry for the no makeup face ! Thanks for stopping by!

I like the length as is. You could wear it a few times before deciding whether to shorten it.

I tried that dress on last weekend! I liked it a lot, but decided I preferred the dark denim version for myself. Another shopper I ran into at the fitting rooms took this one home.

I think the length is fine. It would also look good shortened to just above the knee. I like Catnip's suggestion of wearing it as is a couple of times before deciding whether or not to shorten it.

I just bought this dress on Wednesday. I was so excited to find a good red for me, in a casual dress. I think it's very versatile. Looking forward to wearing int soon. However, I live in Arizona, where the weather this winter has been unnaturally warm.....would like to send some for all of you in the cold, wet areas, if you could send us some rain (no snow please) and cool so I can wear my jackets! I think this dress looks good on you, and really will brighten up a Chicago winter day!

I love the color! I think it's a good idea to wear it a while with the length as is before deciding to shorten it. It may also shrink a bit in the wash, depending on the material.

Thats a good idea Catnip! will keep the length this way for sometime and see if I really want to shorten it later.

Jewell, I went back and forth between the dark denim and this color too - but I have been seeking a casual red like SW Ann for sometime now that I had to try this! The Dark denim looked great too!

Another vote for "it's not too long as is." And yes, the color is just what's needed in these gray and bitter days.

I have tried on so many shirt-dresses and not found one that was OK at the waist- so I would keep and enjoy! Lovely colour too.

I like the dress too. As for the length, it depends on your context. Is this for work? If so, the length is good. If it's meant as a fun casual dress, you are young so you could easily chop off a few inches to make it bit more sassy.

Ii e the color. Keep the length for now. If you end up wearing very flat shoes and sandals, it could go shorter. But the teenier longer length seems current.

Cocolion, its meant as a fun casual dress - I know exactly what you mean when you say that it could be sassier with a tad bit shorter length - but I am pathetic about alterations - If I do get around to doing it - will do it after a couple of wears!

Melllls, I am short too - 5 nothing, - but I will always try and wear it with a bit of heels if I can!

Unfrumped, interesting that you should mention longer length to be current! that makes me feel better!
