Shipping-Wow, not eco friendly

For the first time ever, I actually made quite a few orders from the Anniversary sale. Two orders, 22 items: to be fair, 2 were polos for my husband, one slippers for daughter, one sweater for my mom, who has now moved in with us, and one free beauty sample, so 17 just for me

Nordstrom shipped these to me in 14 separate boxes! Some with just one item in them. Still waiting for a few stragglers, and I ordered on the first day I could. I guess I hadn’t thought that everything would be shipped this way, from different stores around the country. Might make me pause next year..

I would think that Nordstrom had a warehouse somewhere? Maybe not.

Yes, I’ve had this happen. I wish they had a box to check, saving everything for one shipment. Part of the problem is things get shipped from different locations.

I know that the coat that i ordered came straight from the manufacturer/brand. My other 3 items did come together from the Nordstroms warehouse…i had to reorder 1 item in a smaller size, I’m wondering if that will come from a store since its likely to be a customer return

Most of my order arrived in one giant box and the rest has trickled in packaged in plastic bag mailers. The giant box held a lot…..towels, coats, boots, tops, sweaters, jeans, etc. I wonder if the packaging choice used depends on which warehouse items are shipped from…..also some may come direct from the manufacturer…..

With one exception — a box that contained two items — everything has shipped to me in separate shipments. It appears they come from multiple locations, including directly from Pendleton and other manufacturers/brands.

My cardboard recycling pile overflows…

They do have a warehouse (several) but they also ship from stores. This allows you to order online when something is out of stock in the warehouse, but in stock in any store. Unfortunately, the merchants may be placing more inventory in stores because they know if the warehouse runs out it can ship from the store (but visa versa usually isn't great; they CAN ship to you if you walk in to a store and ask for something, but that's not typically how someone in the store shops). They also save a lot of time and money with the "drop ship" inventory, which gets held at a giant warehouse run by the manufacturer, so that stuff is separate too (and often take a lot longer to arrive, I've found).

I absolutely agree that this isn't eco-friendly, and I think amazon now has that "ship in as few boxes as possible even if it takes longer" option.

I think the worst for me was from the before the sale. I ordered some sunscreen and was supposed to get extra bonus samples or some such thing. The tiny bag of bonus, I mean tiny was shipped in a separate box from a different store than the sunscreen

Omg, it is not just me! I will think harder next year about this, but there were so many items I needed that showed up on sale, and at a really great lower price, that I went ahead and ordered. Maybe post-COVID shopping syndrome
