I was all excited to do some fall shopping, but most of the stores I hit were filled about 85% with only summer clothes on sale. I'm all done with summer clothes and had no interest in them.

I'm afraid I have no pics, and will have no pics until we complete the uploading of the 1400 paris photos to clear off our camera cards. And I'm having trouble finding images of the clothing I did try on or buy! Grr.

First I hit Bloomie's - and I walked in with more confidence than I've ever had in that store. I think the Paris trip has changed me forever. hee hee.

I tried on a gorgeous white Theory shirt - it wasn't just any white shirt: it had ruching around the waist line to make it something special. This perked me up after my disappointing Ann Fontaine experience.

But alas I went back and forth and back and forth between the XS and the Small .... couldn't decide which fit better. The XS worked great lengthwise and for my shoulders, but was a tad too tight on the bustline. The small might have been tailorable, but I think it was too loose in the shoulders. I ended up NOT buying, but feeling better that I *will* find my perfect white shirt one of these days!!!

Then I hit BR (I had some coupons) and was disappointed that most of what they had was summer clearance items, and the fall items they did have looked a lot like last fall (color-wise). I found that I just kept saying "nope, already have something very similar."

But I did end up buying two short-sleeve knit tops that I can't find on their site: one in champagne and a wrap top in blue. And a I also bought two camis (one nude and one white) as they were having a special and I needed to refresh this basic.

I also bought this shirt in white:

I debated back and forth about this one, but ultimately, I liked the black buttons for some reason!

And I tried on a petite black sweater dress that I can't find on the site (I think my local BR might just be a test store; it was also the first to offer petites). The black dress went all the way down to cover my knees - so NOT tunic length, which I liked. It had a very interesting neckline, which I loved. Unfortunately it was very form-fitting, and even with the right undergarments, I feared it would show too many bumps and bulges (i.e., eat one meal and I'd look preggers). So I passed it up. (also after reminding myself I only wore last season's BR sweater dress twice).

At Ann Taylor I found quite a few jackets - on sale and not on sale - that fit great and tempted me, but I didn't buy any.

I really liked this jacket - but neither the pants or skirt fit me, and this one just seemed like it should be a suit (would be absolutely perfect for my occasional west-coast business trips). Not sure the jacket alone would work with jeans though:

and this jacket was cute - I am definetly on the lookout for a perfect black jacket or two this year - just not sure this is "the one" -

and I loved this blouse - esp the structural detailing around the neckline - but they didn't have in my size:

Onward to BCBG.... there were a lot of jackets I tried on - none in my size - but I may be returning later when they get more of their fall stuff in. They had some gorgeous jackets, including one that comes close to what I'm looking for in a "menswear-inspired" silouhette, and another that had a peplum but long sleeves instead of 3/4 like the AT one above.

Then I went back to Bloomie's again - I had to go through it again, since my car was parked nearby. I was starting to think "I have no fall plan" and "I'm getting picky because I already have a lot of things... not sure what I need." The only thing I know for sure, is I want more jackets and blouses, and a pair of boots to tuck skinnies into but I wasn't in the mood for shoe shopping. And sweaters to wear with skinnies - but I just wasn't in the mood to try any of those on either.

I revisited the white theory blouse, and (despite two women in the dressing room who ooh'd and ahhh'd and insisted I buy it), I found my mind hadn't changed about it. The fit was close - but not close enough.

Then I did a quick circle-round Bloomie's. I tried on this Nanette Lapore blouse and it was to die for:

But.... I choked on the price tag... maybe I will reconsider. I don't know. I also tried this on, just for fun... but it just wasn't "me":

Next I discovered Aqua, a brand I don't think I've ever tried on before. I fell in love with this white trench (it's kind of a canvasy material) - fit me perfectly, price was good - but i thought it would be better for Spring. However, it is going on sale soon - what do you think - will it be in style next spring?

Aqua also had a black motorcycle jacket (can't find on the site) with assymetrical detail that fit me perfectly - but I don't think this is really my look, so I passed it up. I did see quite an array of gorgeous leather jackets all over bloomie's.... but I already own four, so it's hard for me to buy another one unless it's absolutely fab and unique.

I ran out of time but may go back to try this one on:

I think I do much better when I shop online first, then go hit the mall with a plan. And I need to get to H&M because their prices are better for trendy items.

Well that's my report!!! Now off to the beach since we finally have some sun....
