Share some summer dress inspiration

I'm in the middle of a heatwave here in Australia, and I could do with another "high summer dress" My requirements:

sleeveless
natural fabric (also no viscose/rayon)
not spaghetti strapped
loose - no waist or collar
some element of fashion

I have 3 dresses like this, but they are several years old and one is faded and another white (which means I tend not to wear it as much - but save it)

I have one fixed idea in my head about what I'd like, but I think it beneficial to broaden my perspective. I probably won't be buying from overseas - it's just inspiration on style that I'm after

Hi Anne, I hear you on the need for some easy summer dresses. These are the ones that I have on rotation this summer. I'm wearing the green maxi dress with pink Birks today! When wearing spaghetti strap dresses, I pop on a linen shirt when out in the sun. Yesterday I wore the gingham dress with a pink linen shirt tied over it.

These are three of my go-to summer dresses. The Loft one is very lightweight, so I love it for the most oppressive days. The Boden one is super comfy and is casual enough for everyday wear but nice enough to wear to church. Good luck finding something that ticks all your boxes!

In finds are my most worn summer dresses. They are all pull on shift dresses with no fasteners . I like a dress that is heavy enough not to need a slip under it. It feels cooler on a hot day. A denim dress is ideal, the tee shirt dress was new to me last summer and is very comfortable. Mine is Eileen Fisher. I have two newer summer dresses from Eileen Fisher. One is white and one is a dark to medium brown. I find it helpful to have a topper for each dress for air conditioning. A linen jacket or cardigan is a good weight. I like dresses to be knee length, but you may like longer or shorter.
Don’t forget two piece dresses and summer skirt. I like to have white and dark denim skirts for summer. Again, you do not need a slip And can wear them like jeans, with anything. They are natural with casual sandals or sneakers.

Have a look at Gorman https://www.gormanshop.com.au/ lots of dresses in organic cotton or linen. I’ve been enjoying the Emerald dress in lime, but it comes in other colours if bright is not for you.

I'm going to suggest two QLD shops, because they know how to do hot weather dressing! All of these brands swing a little boho, which is not me, but I pick through to find the less boho offerings.

Cotton Diva (Sunshine Coast) make really great hot weather dresses, with a good quality finish. They are slightly dearer than some competitors, but I think the quality is higher too.

Orange Sherbert is a shop in Redcliffe on Moreton Bay. I like their stuff, it's kind of fun, especially for casual summer days. The sizing can be slightly odd at times, which can put a dampener on online orders. But the shop assistants there are amazing - best service I ever get in any shop - so I reckon if you called them, you could ask a few questions on sizing. They do both cotton and viscose, so you would need to work around that.

And one non QLD offering - Karma East, which I think is exclusively online. I've only bought one dress from them, but I really liked it a lot, and it has worn well. I think they mainly do cotton.

Another vote for a tee shirt dress. They can be dressed up for work or down for casual, with accessory and footwear choice. I really like your pink clogs, btw.

I'd give almost anything to be breezing around in a summer dress right now! I think I have four at the moment, though the two jersey ones (the solid raspberry and the olive polka dots) may be on the chopping block for fit -- either I've shrunk or they've stretched. I wouldn't mind replacing them both with one solid black sleeveless t-shirt dress, if I can find one I like. The two striped dresses are both woven linen, which is my favorite summer fabric. I have my eye on another linen dress in a murky gingham that I find very appealing. I'm thinking that might be my big summer addition for the year.

Thanks so much for responding. I've enjoyed looking through the links you've provided. Interesting that so many of you recommended tee shirt dresses as I haven't found them very durable in the past and was pretty much only thinking of woven, although I forgot to say that. But if you guys think they work for 100 degree plus days I'll consider it!

Like Joy - I prefer knee length. It's hard to explain just how hot it gets here, but I think long is just too hot on the hottest days, although Bijou seems to cope with it!. I find myself hoiking up the hems! The same goes with anything fitted, even a shift - need maximum floatiness. Number 3 on La Ped's is the sort of thing I'm after.
This is the closest I've found to the "idea in my head" though I think I'd like a bigger check on the gingham
