New top and dresses.K/R

Hi everyone. It's been a hard day. Had a little meltdown because I'm so tired out by the heat (37C), by not having aircon fixed yet and still having stuff all over the house in a mess! Plus it's a busy week with stuff on every night and 2 dance concerts to go today.

Anyway, here are some new clothes that arrived about 10 days ago.

Pic 1 is the new chambray top - which I think I'll keep.

Pic 2/3 is and 4/5 are both cotton dresses.

I probably won't keep both unless totally convinced they are worth it.

Would love to know your opinions

1. I'm not wearing make up

2. They need to work with these shoes

3. I'm sorry, but you'll need to look past all the packaging wrinkles.

I like the top and the light blue dress! They look very wearable and summery.
I like the idea of the other dress, as a breezy style with curved hem, but somehow it looks so dark and severe and maybe too sack-y for you.

I like all three! The shirt is lovely and the styling with the white skirt is stellar. Both dresses look really good and if you are experiencing heat like that now, there is more ahead and two lovely light dresses are bound to be useful. I would be keeping both xx

That chambray shirt is darling on you. I really like the way you've styled it. Very becoming.
I also like the dresses; I would vote to keep the darker of the two if you have to choose. I like it with those shoes.

Thanks UF. I hear you on the dark dress. It is blue check and is darker than I expected. Not quite as cool as I hoped either. And the light blue is better in the photo than I thought in RL.

Hi Anne,
I like all of these on you and commiserate on the hot weather today! The chambray shirt and white skirt is fantastic on you - I think this will be a winning look for so many occasions. If you only want to keep one dress, I like the blue one the most. Given our weather, dark colours can feel a bit much once the really hot weather kicks in. I also like how the blue dress skims your body. However, the blue check dress is nice and is the sort of dress that you may be able to wear to work because it does look dressier than the others.
This is such a busy time of the year, my son has already finished school and is on summer holidays!

Love the shirt! I have a slight preference for the dark blue dress because of the neckline. The tie on the light blue one would personally drive me nuts. The light blue one does look cooler though!

Sounds like you are talking yourself out of the dark dress for some reason, so I would go with that gut reaction or it might end up as an outlier in the closet.

I love it though, it looks breezier and looser, which serves me well in the heat of summer. And the dark colors only come in to play when I am going to be standing in the direct sun, which is never!

I like both dresses -- the dark dress has great lines. I'd keep both of them. If it were me, the dark dress would actually be my favorite -- I like how dark dresses show fewer wrinkles and can look more crisp in the heat.

Unless there is something wrong about the dark dress, I wouldn't talk yourself out of it (I'm remembering that you've said you tend to underbuy and find yourself struggling to get enough items into your closet).

I like all three and think they will be perfect additions to your summer wardrobe. Definitely keep the chambray top. It works well with your new white skirt. The dark dress is my favorite of the bunch as the lines are unique and very flattering on you. But the breezy style of the lighter chambray dress is also nice. Can you keep all 3 pieces?

I like all three on you, although I'm not a fan of the lacing detail on the light blue dress (which is a very subjective thing so take that for what it's worth LOL)

That first outfit is stunning and makes me so very sad that it's cold in Texas right now

I really like all three for you. If your summers are as hot as I think they are, it's hard to go wrong with having multiple breezy dress options, so I think you should keep both.

The lighter color dress is my favorite, and the top is great. So nice to see a warm summery outfit as I sit here in front of the fire, drinking hot tea and there is snow on the ground!

Bijou - yes I'm hoping I can sleep tonight - found it hard last night. At least the temps should be much more moderate the rest of the week. My kids finished school yesterday. I think both dresses would be suitable for Fridays at work.

Clemantine - Ahh the lacing at the neckline was the main reason I bought the lighter blue dress! I wanted something that seemed updated and that is a big feature this Australian summer.

Liz you remembered well. Big underbuyer here! At the moment the lighter dress seems crisper - heavier cotton perhaps or maybe just the sizing and both will be the same after a wash. My main concern about the darker blue dress was that the longer length seemed to trap more heat. But I only tried it on for a few minutes.

El Cee Cynthia and Janet. I could keep all three, and may well do. If so I'd probably decide on no new casual dresses next summer.

I think you should keep all three items. They all look really good on you. We all know how hard it is to find things that look good on us, so when we find them, we should rejoice and keep them.

OK -- more enabling. JAileen is absolutely right. When you find items that look great on you (especially if they are for your long, hot summer season), you should jump on them. Summer dresses can be tough to find. Who knows what next year's offerings will be.

I like them all Anne- sometimes shopping is like that - and these styles seem versatile, practical and attractive. I could see the dark one going to work or even more in the evening to school or church events or BBQ.

I hope you're keeping all three. I like the lacing on the light blue dress, I'm thinking you could leave untied, or only lace the first holes for variety.

You look fab in all three. My mother who is 80 and lives in a small place with few shops did her Christmas shopping through ezibuy. I know she's ordered me the blue dress because she showed me in the catalogue. Is it a tight fit ? I'll post a picture when I get it.

I wore the darker blue dress to church on Sunday. It isn't as dark in RL and I wore a pearl necklace to lighten it a bit. I think it worked.

Wore the top and skirt outfit on Sunday night to church. I think this worked well too.

The lighter dress isn't actually chambray, despite appearances, but pinstripe blue and white. I will keep it, thanks to all your feedback! It is ironed and ready.

Suz - yes the heat is down now. Rest of the week the maxes are in the 20s and today there was heavy rain.. But it will certainly be hot again in Jan-Mar and I'm hoping our aircon gets repaired (as part of the ceiling fix) before I go on holiday

I do feel like I have bought a heap of clothes - 2 dresses, 1 skirt, 1 shorts and 1 top (plus a gear skirt that I can use for casual as well). This is a LOT for me. Despite that I may buy one more top - I'll see how the new bottoms work out.

If all works out, I'm aim to buy nothing for summer casual next year except for summer sandals.

I know the feeling Anne, but it does come in patches, both in terms of need, and in terms of finding pieces that you like or love.

I remember you saying a few months back that you were going to devote some attention to your hot summer casual wardrobe so you have done that.

I have added a dress, a jacket, shorts, swimsuit, pants, cover up for swimsuit, sandals, tank top - plus a couple of pieces in winter that are also going to be worn in summer. I am not planning to shop again for a while but I do keep seeing pieces I like, more this year than last year.
